The basic meaning of labor services

Labor services can be divided into narrow sense labor services and broad sense labor services. Labor services in the narrow sense do not leave any elusive results that exist separately from the people who provide these services, such as services provided by teachers, lawyers, doctors, barbers, etc. In addition to labor services in the narrow sense, labor services in the broad sense also include services whose use value is attached to material products and embodied in commodities, such as services provided by chefs, repairmen, tailors and other personnel.

There are similarities between the concept of labor service and the concept of tertiary industry. The main characteristic of the tertiary industry is to provide labor services to the society.

There is a mutually reinforcing and mutually restrictive relationship between the development level of a country's national economy and the development level of the tertiary industry, which is mainly characterized by the provision of labor services. The scope of labor services is very wide, and it is divided according to the type of services provided:

①Life services. Refers to services provided directly to people's lives. Such as: catering, hairdressing, bathhouses, hotels, cinemas, theaters, etc. This production and consumption of labor occurs simultaneously.

②Production services. Refers to the services provided for the production and reproduction process. It is the continuation of the production process in the circulation process. Such as: transportation, storage, packaging, maintenance, etc. This kind of labor also occurs simultaneously in the production process and the consumption process. Due to the different nature of the labor department, industry or occupation, the functions of the services produced are also different. Some services can meet the needs of people's spiritual life, such as art, tourism, etc.; some services are directly related to the production process, such as: science and technology are directly applied to the production process, and the classification, packaging and storage of goods belong to the production process in circulation. Continuation of the field, this type of activity is productive and can create value. When calculating its results, it should be included in national income. Other labor does not create value. With the development of productivity and science and technology, the more value provided by the material production sector, the labor sector, industry or profession has a gradual development trend. In the future society facing the challenges of the so-called fourth industrial revolution, this labor service sector There will be more development.
