Ten Years of Studying Abroad —— Revealing the Life of Studying Abroad in Japan
Whenever I recall this scene in the future, I not only lament the wonderful arrangement of fate, but to be honest, I didn't want to study in Japan until I graduated from high school. My junior high school and senior high school have always been smooth sailing. Even in Harbin No.3 Middle School, a provincial key school, I ranked first in my class 10. Entering a key university in China can be said to be a shoo-in. Unfortunately, my psychological quality is not high, which leads to my mistakes in the extremely stressful examination room. In addition, the university I applied for has also become the target of many high-scoring students. Although my college entrance examination score is more than 20 points higher than that of key universities, I was wronged to enter an ordinary university-Heilongjiang Business School, which is a great blow to my arrogant heart that even Harbin Institute of Technology disdains it.
Fortunately, my relatives settled in Japan, and my mother strongly recommended me to study in Japan for fear that I would be buried and sunk. When I was a teenager, I followed my parents' arrangement, went through the formalities of studying abroad, and used my spare time to learn Japanese, step by step. Looking back now, if I didn't make mistakes in the college entrance examination, if I filled in my volunteers correctly, I would never have spent the most precious 10 year in a foreign country. The life of studying abroad is full and empty, accompanied by the bitterness of growth, loneliness and difficult moments, there are also many worldly pleasures and the joy of success, and there are many opportunities to meet friends from various cultures and countries.
In recent years, with the improvement of China's economic level, there are more and more Japanese tourists visiting China, and Japanese people have more and more opportunities to meet Japanese people with different cultural backgrounds. Although stepping into the land of Japan and enjoying the scenery there will have a certain understanding of Japanese culture, it is far less profound than living there for 3 or 5 years. Because if you live in a foreign country, not only material problems such as food, clothing, housing and transportation will follow, but also mental problems such as cultural shock brought by contact with local people will follow. In order to let you know more about the real life in Japan, I'm going to write down the ups and downs of this 10 year for the reference of friends who want to study abroad, work or come to Japan for the first time.
Japan is a contract society, and the indispensable first condition for every international student to study in Japan is to find someone to be an economic guarantor. Moreover, in the future, whether you work in a company (such as Daai Rong Da Supermarket) or in a company, you need to find two guarantors (usually only relatives: parents or uncles as guarantors) before you can officially enter the company. Whether you apply for a credit card or rent a house, you should find a guarantor. Also, to borrow usury in Japan, it is generally necessary to find three co-guarantors.
When I attended a seminar in Japan, the speaker mentioned that even one's close relatives and friends should never be a joint guarantor of others' usury, because the violent group would ask the joint guarantor to blackmail him when he still didn't pay the money, which might ruin the joint guarantor. Part-time guarantor is to ensure that he does not do anything illegal or harmful to the company at work; The guarantor of the credit card is to ensure that the cardholder can advance the remaining money when the credit card overdraws and cannot repay the money; The guarantor of renting a house is to ensure that when the rent cannot be paid, it will be paid; The financial guarantor of international students is responsible for the tuition and living expenses of international students to ensure that international students do not overstay their stay. Therefore, we know that the responsibility of the guarantor is very important. Even for the Japanese, it is not easy to find a relative or friend as a guarantor. Moreover, it is difficult for international students to find a person (Japanese) with a stable fixed income and a legal occupation in Japan. You know, if you don't vouch for someone you know very well, no one wants to get into trouble.
To put it simply, the financial guarantor of international students must choose a serious and responsible person. If you have such a person as a financial guarantee in a foreign country, your life in Japan will be much easier. Even if he can't introduce you to a satisfactory job and rent you a cheap house, he can stand up and be your guarantor when you are looking for a job, renting a house or applying for a credit card. His status, position and kind words to you can win the trust of employers and homeowners. Therefore, when applying for studying abroad, you can't just find someone to sponsor you. In order to live and study in Japan more smoothly in the future, you must find someone with a good family background, high social status, stable income, good personality, caring for international students, compassion and trustworthiness.
When I came to Japan, my relative was a guarantor, but he was a freelancer. After I came to Japan 1 year, he told me that his income was unstable. If he was not my guarantor, he could declare less when he declared his income, which would save some insurance and taxes. He asked me to find another sponsor myself. Fortunately, I was admitted to a national university, so I asked the teacher who taught us Japanese at that time to be my guarantor. I explained to him that my relative's family was in financial difficulties and his income was unstable, so he could not be my guarantor. If there is no guarantor, I will lose the qualification to continue studying in Japan. If I can ask him to be a guarantor, I will never give him any trouble. I will work by myself to earn living expenses and so on.
The Japanese teacher is a pro-China Japanese. He used to be a patron of China people, but the job he found when he graduated did not match his major. When he applied for a work visa, he was rejected by the administrative department. So the Japanese teacher ran the admissions office many times for this student, and finally let him stay. The Japanese teacher said that he was very concerned about it. I immediately explained that I would never cause him any trouble. He is really a kind person and was moved by my clumsy confession. Later, he went to the immigration office with me and learned about the procedures for changing applicants. He immediately prepared all the necessary materials and submitted them to the immigration office. My applicant has been successfully replaced. Later, I was lucky enough to get a scholarship from the Ministry of Education, and the Minister of Education naturally became my patron. I really didn't worry the teacher.
During his time as a guarantor, I remitted 70,000 yen to my bank account in the name of a Japanese teacher every month. Every time I went to the Immigration Bureau to renew my visa, I showed my bank passbook to the officials of the Immigration Bureau to prove that he had funded my education. I feel lucky that my Japanese teacher can be my patron for no reason. "Zhongyuan" in July is a festival for Japanese to take care of teachers, bosses and customers. I gave him a bottle of Japanese wine as a token of my gratitude. But he told me seriously that he could not accept this wine and would never give him a gift again, just this once. He is serious, and I dare not send it again on holidays. When I went home, I just brought back some diabetes pills. The teacher's mother has diabetes, and he always asks me to write a receipt and exchange the medicine fee for Japanese yen and return it to me. He is really a good man who helps international students without asking for anything in return.
My friend Ying's guarantor is even more enviable. His sponsor paid her to rent an apartment with a monthly rent of 40 thousand yen and let her go to work in her own company. The salary is not low. She paid more than 1 1,000 yuan/hour, which is really a great thing for international students who have just arrived in Japan. It is said that the guarantor of my other Japanese school classmate is even more magical, and he is an open member of parliament. Therefore, although his age has exceeded the admission limit of Japanese schools, he can still get a visa to study in Japan in a short time, which is enviable.
However, it is wise to let teachers from Japanese schools or universities be sponsors. In this way, you don't owe personal sponsors, and more formal Japanese schools can arrange accommodation and introduce jobs. However, domestic families have to make more friends in Japan on their own to prepare for the need for a guarantor in the future.
I entered a language school in Shopkeep Street, Osaka City. This language school is divided into four classes according to Japanese level: elementary class, elementary class, intermediate class and advanced class. The school curriculum includes listening, grammar, writing and reading. The teaching time is 8: 50 am-12: 50 am, and there are four classes on Monday. In the afternoon, it is a school that teaches Japanese Chinese. My daily schedule is to have classes in the morning and study from 2 pm to 5 pm. Usually I can't watch Japanese for three hours, and then I go to work from 6: 00 to 10: 00. The tuition fee of this school is 260,000 yen for half a year, and it is only 520,000 yen 1 year, which is the cheaper kind. You know, a regular school like Kansai Alumni Association has to pay more than 1 year 1 ten thousand yen. Of course, regular Japanese schools have a long teaching time, and classes can start in the morning until 4 pm, but the working hours are relatively shortened, which is not a good thing for some students. When the Kansai Alumni Association approaches the "Unified Examination for International Students", it also gives guidance to students in mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology and other courses. Therefore, the enrollment rate of universities and the probability of being admitted to universities are much higher than those of ordinary Japanese schools I attended.
The first thing I did at school was to take a Japanese exam. After testing my oral and written tests, Director Shigemitsu and I had a short talk. Because I feel that I have a certain Japanese foundation in China, learning Japanese from Isuzu can be said to be a waste of time, so I expressed my strong desire to join the intermediate class directly. As a result, I got my wish and entered the intermediate class. Later, I felt that my choice was correct. If you follow the steps of most people, it is estimated that you will have to go to Japanese school for two years before you can enter the university.
After going to school, I gradually learned that all the teachers are employed (non-employees) except Mr. Shigemitsu, the director, who is a regular employee, and others have passed the Japanese teacher examination and become Japanese teachers. Before the class starts at 8: 50, many students come to the classroom early, while taking the time to recite words and prepare for the class exam, while eating bread (as breakfast). Five minutes before class, the teacher will call the roll. Because the immigration department requires that the attendance rate of language school students be above 95%, they can only renew their visas. Students who work alone and don't come to class can't get the next visa, and being late twice is regarded as truancy. You must think that Japanese schools will easily be more generous and relax the requirements for student attendance. In fact, if Japanese schools do not strictly implement the attendance system, this school will also be "taken care of" by the Immigration Bureau, so that students who attend school will not get the next visa, thus reducing the number of students and closing down. So attendance is very important to the school and to us. After the roll call, the teacher gave a quiz on the words taught yesterday. When you study and take exams, you can save a lot of final words like a snowball. Classes don't start until after the exam, and the results of the quiz are also counted as part of the final exam results.
There are many foreigners studying in Japanese schools. In addition to applying for foreign students in Japanese universities, short-term universities (equivalent to junior colleges) and junior colleges, housewives who want to live in Japan for a long time and hold Japanese spouse and family visas are also studying Japanese very hard. After all, speaking Japanese means more employment opportunities and will be integrated into Japanese society more quickly.
