Where do you want to travel during the May Day holiday?
Compared with crowded and lively popular cities, the comfort and freedom of small cities are more suitable for holidays. As May Day is approaching, we have compiled the following 7 cities worth visiting to share with you.
1. Mangshi, Yunnan.
Mangshi is a small town on the border of Yunnan where the Dai and Jingpo people live together. There are not as many tourists as Xishuangbanna here, but it is full of the exotic customs of Southeast Asia. The average annual temperature is 25°C, and there is sunshine, coconut trees, and electric cars every day, making it leisurely and comfortable.
You can go to the Golden Pagoda and Silver Pagoda in the afternoon and wait for sunset to take pictures of the night view. Shubao Pagoda is a unique landscape. You can visit the surrounding Huixian Ancient Village, Zhefang Town and Shudong Hot Spring. It’s hard to get tired of the Southeast Asian cuisine, Dai nationality, various snacks and food courts in this place even after a month’s stay.
2. Jingdezhen, Jiangxi.
Jingdezhen is a niche and artistic city. "Born because of kilns and prosperous because of porcelain", Jingdezhen is unique in literature and art. At the Lotte Market on Saturday, there are many fine porcelains at very cheap prices. The China Ceramics Museum displays porcelain produced in Jingdezhen in various periods since the Neolithic Age.
There are not many tourists in the niche Yaoli Ancient Town, so I spent a day here to experience the leisurely and slow life of the ancient town. You can stop by Dongbu Ancient Wharf, which is also a very unique ancient village.
3. Baise, Guangxi.
Baise is surrounded by mountains and the city is surrounded by Youjiang River. It is a typical small basin city and borders Vietnam. Although it is not as well-known as Guilin Beihai, it has tourism resources such as Baise Uprising Memorial Park, Leye Tiankeng Group, and Jingxi’s karst landscape. It has both culture and landscape.
A must-go to the Baise Uprising Memorial Hall to feel the spirit of the Baise Uprising. From the memorial hall, climb up the mountain towards the Forest of Steles and the Red Army Bridge. Standing at the monument, you can overlook Baise Street, giving you a sense of transparency.
4. Kashgar, Xinjiang.
There is a saying that “If you don’t reach Kashgar, you don’t count as visiting Xinjiang.” The ancient city of Kashgar has been located in the westernmost region of the motherland for thousands of years. It was the only place that the Silk Road passed through in ancient times. It is not desolate but still lively. Whether it is the winding streets or the stacked quaint houses, the unique temperament of the ancient city will always attract people.
The ancient city of Kashgar is like a maze. Hexagonal floor tiles are bright avenues, and quadrilateral floor tiles are dead ends. Sitting in a century-old teahouse, with a pot of milk tea and a dessert, quietly overlooking the cars and people in the market downstairs. The Id Kah Mosque in the center of the old city is pious and simple.
