Winter vacation study tour—Du Fu Thatched Cottage, Chengdu
Du Fu, a realist poet of the Tang Dynasty, was revered as a saint of poetry. To escape the Anshi Rebellion, he and his family went to Chengdu. Du Fu's life in Chengdu was poor, but even so, he still had the feeling of helping the world and calming the people, and said: "There are thousands of vast buildings, and the poor people in the world will be happy. The wind and rain will not move, and it will be as safe as the mountain! Wow, when will it be in front of me?" If I suddenly see this house, it will be enough for my house to be broken down and freeze to death!" shouts.
Jiao Yang learned a lot from his trip to the thatched cottage in Chengdu. It seems that reading thousands of books and traveling thousands of miles is indeed an effective way to acquire knowledge.
Visiting Du Fu Thatched Cottage
Jiao Yang
Taking advantage of this winter vacation, I carried out a research trip. The destination of my research trip is Chengdu is the city where the great poet Du Fu once lived.
On a rare sunny and warm afternoon in winter, I walked into Du Fu’s former residence, Du Fu Thatched Cottage.
As soon as I entered the main entrance, I saw the word "Thatched Cottage" written on a small wall. Walking further inside, I saw several pavilions deep in the grass. There were many old people listening in the pavilions. Some were playing Tai Chi, while others were playing flutes and erhus. It seemed that this place was less like a memorial place and more like a park. However, I think that after several periods of silence in the thatched cottage, Du Fu must have wanted to see it full of life, so that it could "protect the poor people from all over the world."
Soon, I arrived at the real thatched cottage. In fact, it is just a small courtyard surrounded by wooden fences. In front of the courtyard is a small wooden door that only allows one or two people to pass through, giving off a strong pastoral atmosphere. Looking at the roof that had been repaired and covered with thatch, I couldn't help but think of the line in "The Song of Thatched House Broken by the Autumn Wind", "A group of children in the south village bullied me because I was old and weak, and they could not bear to face thieves, so they openly carried the thatch into the bamboo." There seemed to be several children running out of the courtyard holding thatch in front of me, while Du Fu stood by the door with a cane and shouted helplessly.
On the left side of the courtyard is a small stone table and several small stone benches. I chose a "upper seat" stone bench and sat here with a wide view, facing the vegetable patch in the courtyard. Looking far into the distance, you can have a panoramic view of the beautiful scenery beside Huanhua Creek. Even in winter, it is hard to imagine the brilliant scenery of flowers in spring and summer. I didn’t know that Du Fu, more than a thousand years ago, would sit at a stone bench and table, admire the beautiful scenery, and write down many precious poems. This situation and this scene gave me a wonderful feeling of communicating with the great poet Du Fu across the air. feeling.
A thatched house can be said to be very simple, with one bedroom and Du Fu's study. Although it is small, it has all the internal organs. Back then, Du Fu spent four rare years reunited with his family in this small space and simple thatched house. Here, Du Fu not only wrote the wonderful scenery of "looking at the red and wet place at dawn, and the official city full of flowers", but also wrote the eternal famous poem "An Deguangsha thousands of houses, a big shelter" that will be admired by future generations. All the poor people in the world are happy. The wind and rain are still as peaceful as the mountains! Oh, when I suddenly see this house, my house will be broken and frozen to death!" Du Fu not only has infinite tenderness for his family, but also cares about his family and the world. For him, who is hungry and cold, he hopes to have millions of warm and comfortable big houses that can make the poor and educated people in the world smile, even if he freezes to death!
I gained a lot from traveling to Chengdu and visiting Du Fu’s Thatched Cottage.
