What does China Unicom’s national monthly subscription and overseas traffic mean?

After the cancellation of domestic mobile phone data roaming fees

International roaming may become a new growth point for operators

Starting from July 1 this year, the three major operators have canceled Domestic mobile phone data roaming charges. At a time when it is difficult to increase revenue from wired broadband and the increase in mobile traffic revenue is weakening, international roaming may become a new growth point.

On the 10th of this month, China Unicom announced a significant reduction in international/Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan roaming tariffs. The decline was the largest in the history of China Unicom. This tariff reduction covers voice and data services. The international voice roaming tariff adjustment involves 18 countries and regions including Canada and Morocco, with an average decrease of 44% and a maximum decrease of 79%. Data roaming tariff adjustments involve 143 countries and regions including Italy and Belgium, with an average reduction of 46% and a maximum reduction of 97%.

China Mobile has launched the "Global Communication Unlimited Exclusive Plan". In addition to "any domestic traffic (including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) traffic", this package can also enjoy "unlimited global traffic". According to reports, "global unlimited" refers to international roaming in 199 countries and regions with "unlimited traffic up to 14 days per month."

China Telecom launched a variety of multi-day data packages at the beginning of the month, specially designed for multi-day journeys between different countries and regions, including many popular overseas travel destinations such as Europe, Southeast Asia, and Australia. The price is between 10 yuan and 100 yuan, depending on the number of days and destination.

There is also an upper limit for unlimited overseas traffic

Speed ??restrictions will begin when the amount is exceeded

Although the tariff has dropped, there is a usage limit for the so-called "unlimited" traffic.

On the official website of China Mobile, the reporter noticed that the "unlimited" in the package means that the speed limit of different packages exceeds the corresponding range, and "advertising does not constitute a contract, please consult us for details" customer service".

China Telecom’s overseas traffic package interface also states that “unlimited traffic service is subject to the fair usage principle of local operators’ networks. When customers use too much traffic or reach fair usage in a short period of time, , the operator will have the right to limit the speed of customers."

In the newly released overseas traffic rates of China Unicom, if you want to continue to enjoy high-speed network after exceeding the corresponding traffic range, the price will be much higher. For example, the price in the United States, Japan and South Korea is 20 yuan/100MB.
