China citizens need to hold valid passports when traveling or visiting Thailand. According to the provisions of the Passport Law of the People's Republic of China, China citizens who go abroad for non-official reasons such as settling down, visiting relatives, studying, employment, traveling and engaging in business activities must apply for an ordinary passport from the exit-entry administration of the public security organ of the local people's government at or above the county level where they are registered.
