Things to note when traveling to Tibet

Travel refers to traveling far away; to go to other places for business or sightseeing.

The difference between traveling and tourism is that traveling is about observing the scenery and things around you, traveling thousands of miles, reading thousands of books, rather than referring to individuals. Travel refers to travel, usually in groups, and is very short-term in time. Tourism is travel and sightseeing activities. It is a complex social phenomenon. Travel involves various social fields such as politics, economy, culture, history, geography, and law. Travel is also a recreational activity. The World Tourism Organization defines travel as traveling at least 55 kilometers away from home.

The following are things you need to pay attention to when traveling in Tibet:

1. Northern Tibet is one of the highest altitude areas in Tibet, with an average altitude of more than 4,500 meters, and poor medical and health conditions. Travelers who are fully adapted to the plateau climate are best to spend a few days in Lhasa to adapt.

2. Don’t get too close to wild animals, especially wild yaks. If you see them, stay away from them. In addition, yellow sheep and Tibetan antelopes have the habit of racing with cars. The atmosphere is very exciting, but you'd better be careful, accidents can easily happen.

3. It is best to have a variety of capable people among the people going together, especially vehicle maintenance, guides and doctors. In northern Tibet, it is too difficult to get support from the outside.

4. The environment in northern Tibet itself is already very fragile, so we must pay attention to environmental protection. Non-degradable garbage should be taken out of northern Tibet, and decomposable garbage should be buried on site.

5. Please bring some small gifts! Children deep in the plateau lack stationery and toys. They often pick up brightly colored film cans and plastic bags with great fondness. While appreciating the beautiful nature, don’t forget to express a little kindness to the owner of the plateau.

6. When you go to Lhasa, you can find like-minded travel companions to rent a car together on the message boards of the four travel agencies: Jiri, Zhiyu, Balang, and Ya Hotel. This can not only reduce personal car rental costs, but also help you rent a car together. Adding fun to the journey.

The car rental prices on the Everest line vary with the seasons. April and May are the cheapest. An off-road vehicle or cruiser costs between 3,800 and 4,500 yuan; prices in June, July, August and September. It is 1,500 to 2,000 yuan higher than in April and May. The entrance fee of 400 yuan is paid by yourself. The ferry fare to Samye Temple is 180 yuan, and the car rental price is 180 yuan. The per capita cost of the Everest line is about 2,100 yuan, and the per capita cost of the Shannan line is about 200 yuan.

7. You must apply for a border permit to go to Mount Everest. However, it is very troublesome to apply for a permit in Tibet. You must apply for it at the place of residence before traveling. The best reason for going is business. The Border Defense Bureau will be open for a longer time, which is convenient for travel arrangements.
