Flue-cured tobacco is a pillar industry that promotes increased income for farmers in Zejia Town. In order to ensure the transplantation of flue-cured tobacco, the Party Committee and Government of Zejia Town carefully organized and took multiple measures to do a good job in all tasks.

On the morning of the 9th, the Rural Revitalization Assistance Group of the School of Physics of Xiangtan University went to the Zejia Town Flue-cured Tobacco Factory. During the investigation, the team systematically learned that flue-cured tobacco, as the main raw material for cigarette production, is an important agricultural product among the economic crops in Zejia Town and plays a pillar role in driving local farmers to increase production and harvest. With the support of the national poverty alleviation policy, the flue-cured tobacco industry in Zejia Town has small price fluctuations and is mainly regulated by the state. Therefore, it is less affected by market resource allocation and farmers' wages are relatively stable. After the curing stage is completed, tobacco companies will purchase flue-cured tobacco in a centralized manner, which to a certain extent alleviates farmers' sales difficulties. Led by the person in charge of the flue-cured tobacco factory, the team investigated more detailed basic information about flue-cured tobacco, including processes, technologies, related equipment, and the working conditions of workers. Tobacco companies will arrange professional staff to guide farmers in planting tobacco leaves, train flue-cured tobacco technicians, and improve production efficiency.

On the afternoon of the 9th, the rural revitalization assistance group of the School of Physics of Xiangtan University went to Taiyangping, Jiushui Village to visit the tobacco planting area. Taiyangping was originally a livestock breeding land. After re-cultivation, it changed its development ideas and chose tobacco production with a short planting cycle. The average income per mu of land is about 3,000 yuan, helping people escape poverty and increase their income. According to the secretary of Jiushui Village, although the flue-cured tobacco industry continues to make efforts to help farmers increase their income and help local residents stabilize and get rid of poverty, the current flue-cured tobacco industry in Zejia Town still has shortcomings in some aspects. First, land utilization is limited. The cultivated land area of ??Jiushui Village is 500 acres, but the tobacco planting area is only 160 acres. This is because the internal terrain of Jiushui Village is rugged and complex, and the cultivated land cannot show a complete shape, making it difficult to concentrate on farming. Secondly, the age of the main labor force is generally higher. A series of processes such as soil plowing, planting and harvesting in the flue-cured tobacco industry require a large amount of labor. Even though the local older generation has a deep affection for the land, the young labor force prefers jobs with quick returns and relatively low labor intensity. Furthermore, the current technical level of flue-cured tobacco production in Zejia Town is still at the stage of traditional agriculture.

The Rural Revitalization Assistance Team of the School of Physics of Xiangtan University selected successful model production and business households in Jiushui Village and conducted an exclusive interview with Tian Weilu, a major flue-cured tobacco household, on the morning of the 10th. The team learned that Uncle Tian’s income was low when he first engaged in agricultural production. Then he responded to the national call and began contracting land to grow tobacco. He has now achieved certain results in the flue-cured tobacco industry. Uncle Tian hopes that the younger generation with knowledge and ambition will inherit the agricultural products, but at the same time he is worried that young people will not choose to engage in the flue-cured tobacco industry because of fear of difficulties. In recent years, in response to the national policy of returning farmland to forest, the planting area of ??flue-cured tobacco has been subject to certain restrictions. He expressed his hope that the Zejia Town Government will deepen reform and strict land management, implement the policy of rural land ownership transfer, and improve the level of mechanization and intensification of agricultural production. , while further expanding the scale of agricultural production, while promoting the transformation of traditional farmers into new professional farmers.
