Where is Miquan Lake?

Miquan Lake is located 6.5 kilometers southwest of Jiayu County, between Guanqiao, high-speed rail and Yuyue Town, surrounded by residual hills on the east, south and west, and a river silting plain on the north. Miquan Lake flows around, with a rainy area of 84 square kilometers, a lake surface of 12.5 square kilometers and a volume of 23.75 million cubic meters, making it the second largest lake in the county.

Miquan Lake, formerly known as Dapinghu, was named after the Taiping Temple by the lake. Taiping Lake was renamed Miquan Lake. According to folklore, there was a drought one year, and it didn't rain for 998 1 day. Even Taiping Lake has dried up. Then I knocked the second time, and in a blink of an eye, thirty-two big springs suddenly appeared on the cracked Taiping Lake. The spring water "goo, goo, goo" goes straight up, and people who are suffering from drought grab water and drink it with their hands. This water is as sweet as honey. Since then, every time people rang the bell, the water rose by three inches. At dawn, the sun came out, and the cracked Taiping Lake was full of springs. The story reached the ears of the county magistrate. In order to get promoted and get rich, he sent someone to rob the treasure clock and give it to the emperor. As soon as the officials arrived at the lake, they saw the golden bell whizzing and disappearing without a trace. The treasure bell is gone, but the water in the Eight-Eye Spring and the Twenty-Four-Eye Spring has been flowing, bright and sweet. Therefore, people renamed Taiping Lake Miquan Lake.

According to historical records, in the third year of Shaosheng in the Northern Song Dynasty (A.D. 1096), the dried-up lake dried up, but there was a "sweet spring with eight eyes" flowing in the lake for drinking. At that time, the beneficiaries praised it as "honey spring" and changed it to the name of the lake. At that time, the natives had dug up "Duke Chu _ Zhong" here. At that time, the county magistrate sent the clock to Wuchang House, but it was destroyed by "putting it in a smelting weapon". Feeling this, Qin Shaoyou wrote Hanging _ Wen Zhong. According to Zhao Mingcheng's "Lu Jin" recorded in Hubei Tongzhi in 10 of the Republic of China, there is an inscription with the word 14, which contains historical records.

Miquan Lake has always been an important waterway for traffic. Previously, before the highway was formed, merchants and goods in Chongyang and Puyin (now chibi city) all went from Mibu (now Guanqiao) to Jiayu County via 13km waterway (8 km across Luma River) or entered the Yangtze River via Jiayu County. Nowadays, due to the shrinking of the lake and the formation of expressway, fewer people take this waterway, but it is still an important waterway around the lake area.

Miquan Lake is an important freshwater aquaculture lake in Jiayu County, with an average elevation of 19 m, a water level of 23 m and an average water depth of 4 m, which is beneficial to fish farming. There is a county Miquan Lake farm, which is one of the six ten thousand mu crab breeding bases in Jiayu County.

In the field of irrigation and water conservancy, the lake passes through the mouth of Luma River and crosses the mountain. It has a permanent electric pumping station, which can discharge flood from the permanent sluice during drought and flood. There are also 14 electric irrigation stations around the lake, including Mibu, with installed capacity of * * * 17 and 1.350 kW, which can lift water to irrigate farmland.
