Thomas Cook is the father of tourism.
On 5 July 1841 Thomas Cook chartered a train to carry up to 570 Travelers from Leicester in the Midlands to La Barfleur for the Temperance Congress and back. There is a group fee for 11 miles, one order per person. Free ham lunches and snacks are provided, followed by a psalm band.
This event occupies an important position in the history of tourism development.
