How does tourism break through the "talent bottleneck"
Tourism fever shows "talent shortage"
With the rapid development of tourism and the increase of travel agencies and tourist hotels, the actual demand for tourism professionals is more than 8 million, and the gap of tourism talents is at least 2 million. Although the threshold of tourism industry is relatively low, in fact, the comprehensive quality of practitioners is still quite high. The phenomenon that tourism pays more attention to tourism promotion than talent training is also prominent. Some tourism enterprises spend hundreds of thousands or even millions of yuan on tourism promotion every year, but little on talent training.
Insiders pointed out that with the rapid development of tourism, there are three main types of tourism talents that are most needed at present. One category belongs to the "most sought-after talents": management talents who are proficient in outbound travel, engaged in overseas tourism planning, project development and team scheduling, good at foreign-related communication and exchange, and tour guides who have the ability to deal with overseas emergencies; The second category is "the most urgently needed talents": such as professional managers of hotels, hotels and travel agencies and managers of sales and customer service departments; The other category is "the most needed talents: skilled talents such as Chinese and Western chefs, communication technology maintenance, catering and room service." In particular, the development of foreign-related tourism needs international knowledge, foreign-related tourism culture, humanized service concept in line with international practice and international management talents. And foreign tour guides, public relations sales, e-commerce, travel insurance talents are also in short supply; As for the professionally trained tourism landscape development and design talents, it is rare and hard to find.
Get out of the misunderstanding of separation of training and use
Dr. Shimura, a member and professional researcher of Japan International Tourism Society, believes that the issue of "quality" is much more important than that of "quantity" for tourism talents. From the experience point of view, large quantities often do not necessarily achieve absolute returns. If tourism has been in a state of strong mobility, it will be extremely unfavorable to the development of tourism itself. In fact, many travel agencies have the phenomenon of "no shortage of people and no shortage of posts", lacking both professional talents and job placement. Because tourism requires higher operational skills, tourism colleges and universities mostly aim at cultivating tourism management talents, paying attention to theoretical literacy and not paying much attention to the cultivation of basic operational skills.
In Japan, the cultivation of tourism talents has always been carried out in the trinity of industry, government and school. The government supports the development of tourism, the academic circles support personnel training and industrial research, and the tourism industry vigorously introduces talents. Japan regards tourism talents as professionals, so the work of cultivating talents is mostly concentrated in tourism specialized schools. Due to the good cooperation between all parties, the balance between supply and demand of tourism talents is guaranteed. However, in China, there is a certain disconnect between the talent training of tourism colleges and the market demand. In terms of quantity, there are not many tourism professionals trained by domestic tourism colleges, and the talent gap is not small. Skilled talents are often more popular, and a large number of vocational college students and junior college students are very popular, mainly because they pay more attention to the cultivation of operational skills. After entering travel agencies and hotels, you can start with the most basic work, while undergraduate students majoring in tourism often face the embarrassing situation of failing to achieve high or low.
Although there are many tourism colleges in China, the level of college and vocational education is not yet open. There are too few brand colleges and universities welcomed by the industry, and there are few brand teachers, scientific research projects, teaching materials and publications. Especially now, there is a serious gap between the training of tourism talents and the market demand. Many tourism colleges are positioned as "all-rounders" and "the cradle of general managers". The training goal is too high and too wide, which leads to students' low vision and poor practical ability. Many tourism companies complain that some students are even one. Facing the current situation of talent demand in the tourism market, tourism colleges should strengthen applied subject education while ensuring quality education and improve students' practical operation ability.
