The formation of Wuliangsuhai is related to the diversion of the main stream of the Yellow River. The earliest Yellow River flows eastward along Wujiahe on the south side of Langshan Mountain. Later, due to the uplift of the earth's crust, the Yellow River was blocked from turning south and rushed out of a large depression, which was the predecessor of Wuliangsuhai. Later, due to the eastward invasion of sandstorms and the continuous expansion of alluvial fans on the south side of Langshan Mountain, the river bed rose, and Wujiahe was blocked by sediment, and the river overflowed the depression to form Wuliangsuhai, while the main stream of the Yellow River was forced to flow eastward from the south side.
