Where is Hunan Revolutionary Cemetery located?
Changsha, one of the first historical and cultural cities in the State Council, is located in the northeast of Hunan and on both sides of the lower reaches of Xiangjiang River. It is an ancient city with a history of 3,000 years. Throughout history, Changsha is one of the important origins of China revolution, and also one of the important origins of China's party building, army building and political construction. In turbulent times of war and peaceful times of harmonious development, countless heroic sons and daughters have dedicated their blood and enthusiasm. According to statistics, there are now more than 20,000 revolutionary martyrs who were born and died in Changsha.
1977, Hunan revolutionary cemetery was formally established for the purpose of praising revolutionary martyrs and promoting patriotism. The cemetery is located in Tianxin District, south of Shashi District, Chairman of Hunan Province, close to Xiangjiang River, overlooking Orange Island and facing the majestic Yuelu Mountain. With towering trees, evergreen seasons and fragrant flowers, the park covers an area of 197.5 mu, with a total construction area of over 4,000 square meters and a green coverage rate of 70%. It was awarded the honorary title of advanced unit of civilization and health and patriotic education base of provinces and cities by provinces and cities.
The cemetery was officially opened on 1983. Before 1992, funeral services were only provided to martyrs and deceased leading cadres at or above the departmental level. After 1992, the service targets were gradually liberalized. With the care and support of leaders at all levels, we have implemented development and construction in accordance with the requirements of "Life Science Theme Park". At present, there are three tomb areas, namely Art Garden, Wangjiang Garden and Zhihua Garden, where more than 100 revolutionary martyrs and revolutionary ancestors of various periods are buried. General Chen of the Red Army (inscribed by Comrade Peng: Born for the people and gloriously sacrificed for the revolution), heroine Han, police officer Zhang, fire fighter Li, navy soldier Tan, model young man Tao Weilie, pilot Yao Xianglie, pilot Chen Lin who died in Wenchuan earthquake relief in 2008, and life hope in fire fighting in 2009. At the same time, there are many provincial and ministerial leading cadres who have made outstanding contributions to China's revolution and socialist construction, such as Tan, Tan Yubao, etc., whose ashes are buried or stored in cemeteries. Every year, more than 654.38 million people from all walks of life come to the cemetery to pay homage, visit, mourn and sacrifice. Hunan Revolutionary Cemetery has become the "Babaoshan" in Hunan.
In order to adapt to the requirements of the new situation and promote the work of praising martyrs to keep pace with the times, in 2000, the provincial and municipal civil affairs departments listed Hunan Revolutionary Cemetery as a key civil affairs project for maintenance and renovation, and invested more than 3 million yuan to repair facilities for praising martyrs such as Xiongshouge. The "Xiongsouge", which integrates ashes storage and mourning activities, covers an area of 3,600 square meters and was once rated as one of the top ten buildings in Changsha. There are 6668 ashes of revolutionary martyrs, old Red Army, veteran cadres and people from all walks of life in the building.
In 2007, Hunan Revolutionary Cemetery was rated as the key protection unit of the key martyrs memorial building in the province. In order to give full play to the role of the patriotic education base for young people and further do a good job in the collection and collation of information on Changsha martyrs, Hunan Revolutionary Cemetery took the lead in completing the collection, collation and proofreading of the book "Changsha Martyrs' English Directory" for one year, which has been distributed internally. The book is divided into three volumes,1.2000 words, which records the basic information of 1.9 1 and 1.08520 martyrs in Changsha since 2006. The book will be presented as historical materials to local civil affairs departments, martyrs commendation units, universities and cultural institutions to further standardize and improve the historical materials of Changsha martyrs. In order to inspire and educate the general public more directly and vividly, and widely inherit the spiritual wealth of Huxiang martyrs, the Revolutionary Cemetery Management Office of Hunan Province, with the strong support of the Provincial Civil Affairs Department and the Civil Affairs Bureau, built Changsha Martyrs Memorial Square in 2007 based on the English Directory of Changsha Martyrs. More than 8520 martyrs, including Huang Xing, Yang Shouren, Yang Kaihui, Guo Liang and Lei Feng, were able to leave their names on the heroic memorial wall in Changsha/KLOC-0. The work of praising martyrs is more intuitive and shocking, and Hunan Revolutionary Cemetery has also become an important place for citizens to mourn martyrs. The provincial and municipal media reported this many times, and the public response was very enthusiastic, which was quite influential throughout the country.
In 2009, Hunan Revolutionary Cemetery was listed as a national key martyrs memorial building key protection unit. With the care and support of the national, provincial and municipal business departments, the two projects of "Martyrs Cemetery" and "Martyrs' Deeds Showroom" were approved for renovation on March 26th. The national investment in the renovation project is 36.5438 million yuan, and the municipal financial support is 200,000 yuan, totaling 3.3 million yuan.
The design of martyrs cemetery has been revised and improved by six drafts, and a relatively perfect scheme has been achieved. It is profound in meaning, modern in structure, educational, attractive and shocking. The theme is "Red Proverbs", which carries the educational content that "* * * and the country will never forget. For the sake of * * * and the establishment and construction of the country, the blood of countless martyrs has been spilled all over the Great Wall, north and south of the river, and every inch of land is full of martyrs' blood". The martyr is a banner and a model, and the heroic deeds of the martyr will go down in history forever. The design goal of Martyrs Cemetery Area is to set memorial education, garden landscape and model cemetery as one of the martyrs' exclusive cemetery areas. In the design, the wall of the tomb area is made into the landscape wall of the Great Wall and mountains. The cemetery is surrounded by mountains on three sides, which means that the inside and outside of the Great Wall, the north and south of the Yangtze River, the Yellow River and the grassland are all presented in the cemetery. The meaning of bonfire means that a single spark can start a prairie fire, the ideals of martyrs can be realized, and the motherland will become a world power; The second is to warn people that the war may not be extinguished, and the relief at the foot of the Great Wall will not be forgotten by the country. The shape of ordinary tombs is that the monument is a red flag, the martyrs are a flag, and many martyrs make up a red China. The cover of the mausoleum is shaped by red books, indicating that the heroic deeds of martyrs will go down in history forever. The design was based on the suggestions of the masses, taking into account that countless martyrs did not even leave their names after their sacrifices. Building a monument to the unknown martyrs in the cemetery area is not only a memorial to the martyrs, but also increases the shock and visual effect of the cemetery.
The renovation of Changsha Martyrs' Deeds Exhibition Hall is to expand the area on the basis of the original exhibition room on the second floor of Xionghun Hall, and use modern means such as sound, light and electricity to show the martyrs' life deeds more intuitively and accurately.
Review the past and look forward to the future. Our work will be deeper and wider, and the praise of martyrs will always be the core of our work.
Guided by the policy of adhering to Scientific Outlook on Development, building a harmonious society and building a harmonious cemetery, the staff of the whole office will further brainstorm, concentrate their efforts, raise financial resources, make unremitting efforts to build a brand cemetery, and meet the test of the general public and leaders with practical actions and good brand image.
