Where is Hengshan? Let's open the Hunan Province map. There is Hengyang City in the southeast of Hunan Province, and the Xiangjiang River passes northward from Hengyang City. There is a municipal district in the northwest of Hengyang in Nanyue District. The famous Hengshan Mountain in Nanyue is in the northwest of Nanyue District. Why is this legendary mountain called Hengshan? It has a history. The ancient Chinese astronomy classic "Gan Shi Xing Jing" says that Hengshan is located on the wings of the twenty-eight stars and can be used as a scale to weigh the heaven and earth, so it is named Hengshan. There is a little star next to Chiu named Changsha Xing. In folklore, the Changsha star controls human life, so Hengshan is also nicknamed "Shouyue". The famous longevity couplet says: "Happiness is like the currents of the East China Sea, and longevity is like the pines of Nanshan Mountain." There are several versions of "Nanshan", such as the Qinling Mountains in southern Shaanxi, and some people think that "Nanshan" refers to the current Hengshan Mountain in Hunan.

There are 72 famous peaks in Hengshan Mountain, the highest of which is Zhurong Peak. Everyone is familiar with the name Zhurong, the god of fire in folklore. In fact, there is a deep connection between Zhu Rong and Hengshan. Although Zuiren invented wood to make fire, humans still don't know how to preserve and utilize fire. Just when everyone was worried, a man named Rong Guang appeared at that time. He has liked playing with fire since he was a child and knows a lot about it. Through observation, he learned how to preserve fire and then use it for cooking, heating, lighting and scaring away wild animals.

Here is a story. Rong Guang drilled wood to make a fire for everyone, but the wood was relatively damp at the time, and Rong Guang didn't catch fire even after drilling for a long time. The furious Rongguang threw the stone he used to drill the fire towards the top of the mountain, causing sparks to fly. From this, Rong found a new way to make fire. He knocked a stone and lit the sun-dried reed flowers. Sure enough, there were flames everywhere. People learned to use fire, and human development has made great progress.

When the Yellow Emperor heard that Rongguang had done great service for the people, he named Rongguang the official of fire. Huangdi named him Zhu Rong. "Wish" means eternity, and "harmony" means light. From then on, Rong Guang became Zhu Rong. According to ancient legend, Chi You, the leader of the southern clan, attacked the Central Plains. The Yellow Emperor sent Zhu Rong and others to lead troops to fight against Chi You's coalition forces. Chi You is very powerful. The 81 powerful men under him all have copper heads and iron foreheads, wear cowhide and horns on their heads, and can spray stun fog. Zhu Rong has a way. The opponent is naturally afraid of fire when wearing animal skins. Sure enough, Zhu Rong set a fire, and Fang Niupi couldn't hold on any longer, so he ran away.

After the Yellow Emperor's victory, he would take everyone back to the court, pass by the mountains, and ask Zhu Rong what kind of mountain it was. Tell Zhu Rong Huangdi that Mount Heng was a mountain transformed by Pangu's left hand and is located between Yunmeng and Jiuyi Mountains. It can be called Hengshan because it weighs the weight of heaven and earth and measures the moral standards of the emperor. At the Yellow Emperor's banquet at Hengshan, the hero announced the names of the five mountains and asked Zhu Rong to guard Hengshan, the southern mountain. In Hengshan, people were very grateful to Zhu Rong and called him the Red Emperor. Because Nanyue represents "fire" in the five elements, Zhurong is called the God of Fire.

Hengshan Mountain is Nanyue, but it lost its ancient title over hundreds of years. Liu Che, Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty, renamed Mount Hengshan Huoshan, and Mount Hengshan was no longer called Nanyue. It was not until Emperor Wen of the Sui Dynasty appeared who ended the three hundred years of war in the Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties that the title of Nanyue was restored

Hengshan Mountain has 72 peaks, 38 springs, and 25 streams, all of which are beautiful and full of aura. Now Hengshan is a famous tourist attraction in Hunan Province. Every year, a large number of tourists come to Mount Hengshan to enjoy the unique scenery.
