Xiamen Travel Guide Self-guided Tour

Xiamen is a very modern national-level metropolis and a heavyweight coastal city in China. The world-famous Gulangyu Island and Xiamen University are here, attracting thousands of tourists every day. The following is a self-guided tour of Xiamen travel guide.

If streets are the blood of a city, then the culture embodied in the streets is the soul of a city.

As one of the first coastal open cities, Xiamen’s streets not only reflect its own southern Fujian style, but also reflect the architectural style of combining Chinese and Western styles. From Shapowei to Daxue Road near Xiamen University, and then to Zhongshan Road in the downtown area, this architectural style of combining Chinese and Western styles is reflected.

In fact, this architectural style is not only unique to Xiamen, but also not uncommon in coastal open cities, such as Guangzhou, Beihai, etc. They are not the same, but generally very similar. Of course, they each have their own characteristics.

Xiamen City is surrounded by the sea on three sides, and Xiamen Island is bounded by the Lujiang River. Surrounded by the sea, the climate is hot and rainy, which is a nightmare for people who love shopping. But the genius architect invented the modern commercial and residential building - the seventh floor -, which is widely distributed in Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian, Hainan and other places.

As a typical verandah-style building, the origin of the arcade can be traced back to the Parthenon in Greece about 2,500 years ago. This architectural style was called "veranda room" by Indians during the Anglo-Indian period.

In China, arcade machines were introduced by overseas Chinese. This architectural form, which combines European architecture and Southeast Asian regional characteristics, can not only block wind and rain, but also block the sun, creating a cool and comfortable environment, so that people shopping are no longer afraid of wind, rain and scorching sun exposure.

So once arcade machines were introduced by overseas Chinese, they became popular in Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian, Hainan and other places. To this day, when I walk on the streets of Xiamen and under these ancient arcades, I have to feel this genius invention.

In addition to the arcade buildings along the street, not far from Yanwu Bridge, there is also a unique but unknown place called Shapowei Art West District.

Shawei Art West District, located at No. 60, Shawei, Xiamen, is a young cultural and art district rising next to the sheltered pier in Shawei, Xiamen. It turned out to be the Xiamen Aquatic Products Processing Factory, which was transformed from the old factory building of the processing factory. It has a freezing workshop, equipment room, shellfish purification center, factory warehouse, etc. Covering an area of ??nearly 10,000 square meters.

Includes sculpture, ceramic art, printmaking, fashion design, handmade woodcraft, animation, music, paper art, images and other artistic elements. And it is open to the public free of charge in the form of a studio. Huge bicycle models, open-air free skateboards, live music, and a retro market.

Most urban trend elements can be found here. If you are an art lover, a literary youth, a pseudo-literary youth, or a curious tourist, don’t miss Xiamen.

After visiting Shapowei, near Xiamen University, there is a street called Daxue Road. It is an old street, but this street is ancient and enduring. There are fewer tourists during the day and more tourists at night. The secret is that there’s plenty of delicious food here, and foodies are happy to do it at night.

There are various Chinese and Western delicacies such as "Dear Burger", "Zhang Sanfeng Milk Tea", "Ms. Zhao's Shop", delicious braised pork rice, and of course Xiamen's characteristic "Satay Noodles" ". Find a shop, sit down, enjoy the beautiful scenery of Shapowei and taste Xiamen food. The sense of gain and satisfaction from traveling will immediately rise to a new level.

After lunch, walk west along Daxue Road, which is the famous Zhongshan Road pedestrian street in Xiamen. In China, and even around the world, every city seems to have a bustling commercial pedestrian street, such as Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street in Shanghai, Beijing Road Pedestrian Street in Guangzhou, Guanqian Street in Suzhou, Nanping Pedestrian Street in Kunming, and Zhongshan Road Pedestrian Street in Xiamen .

But no matter what the name of this commercial pedestrian street is, they will always be the same shops, bustling with tourists.

Zhongshan Road Pedestrian Street is no exception. When the morning market starts, there will be a constant flow of people, including shoppers and shopping tourists. When there are many people, only people can be seen on the wide streets. It is evident that the development of tourism has promoted the prosperity of business.

I am not interested in shopping, nor did I come to Zhongshan Road to shop. I am interested in the beauty and food in the nearby alleys (this sentence seems to reveal something).

"If you find something delicious, go to the alley" - this is a rule I have discovered over the years and it works repeatedly. In the alley near Zhongshan Road, there are cold noodles and Roujiamo from Xi'an, as well as hot and sour noodles and hot pot from Chongqing. However, since I had just eaten braised pork rice near Shapowei, I still didn’t want to eat that much. I could barely finish a bowl of cold noodles and another meat sandwich.

Places with many people are not suitable for me, so I quickly left the main street of Zhongshan Road and walked into a small square from an unknown intersection. There is a Christian church next to the square. Unexpectedly, I accidentally discovered the Xiamen Christian New Street Church hidden in the downtown area.

The church is beautiful, with green trees, red walls, and white window frames embedded in the red brick walls. It is elegant and elegant, and you will never tire of it. Walking up the steps of the church, there was a choir singing in the lobby, melodiously and gracefully. I wanted to go in and have a look, but in order not to disturb them, I had to stand outside the door and watch from a distance, quietly listening to their melodious singing.

This church in the downtown area is also a scene here. There are many people in the small square in front of the church.

Most of them are tired from shopping and come here to take a nap. If you are lucky, you can also listen to poetry and purify your soul.

Zhongshan Street in the evening is as bustling and crowded as it was during the day. However, Zhongshan Street in the evening has a different flavor. At dusk, the streets are illuminated by the lights of store billboards and window displays. Against the background of the lights, the buildings and pedestrians present a strange but beautiful light and shadow.

This is my first time to experience Xiamen at night, but this is just the beginning. The night in Xiamen is actually more beautiful than this, so much more beautiful!

The travel time to Xiamen was so fast that I didn’t leave any shadows. However, the passion and enthusiasm of Xiamen are deeply imprinted in my heart and soul, and my future life will constantly remind me of this wonderful trip.
