2.Guezala Ecotourism Zone

Guezala eco-tourism area is famous for its beautiful natural scenery and rich biodiversity. There are towering peaks, dense vegetation and rich wildlife, especially ten thousand mu of rhododendron, pine bamboo forest, alpine meadow and Yi customs, which constitute the unique scenery of the Rift Valley, as well as magnificent geological wonders and ancient cultural heritage, such as Yi villages and ancient legends.

Geographical characteristics of Guezala

Guezala eco-tourism area covers an area of 594.23KM and belongs to the western edge of Panxi Rift Valley. The basic process of geological structure evolution in Panxi Rift Valley is: the formation of dome in late Paleozoic, the intrusion of basic and ultrabasic layered rocks and small annular alkaline complexes; Late Permian continental crust broke, Emei basalt erupted on a large scale, and then alkaline A-type annular complex invaded or erupted. In the late Triassic, faults occurred on both sides of the rift zone and huge thickness of grinding and pulling accumulated.

In the Jurassic-Cretaceous comprehensive depression, red sandstone and mudstone of river and lake facies were widely deposited, and the rift valley contracted from late Cretaceous to early Tertiary, and sandstone, mudstone and marl with gypsum salt were deposited in the limited lake basin. At the end of early Tertiary, the intense Himalayan orogeny squeezed from west to east, and the rift valley closed and disappeared. Due to the differential ascending and descending activities of Quaternary neotectonic movement, steep cliffs of tens of kilometers long have been formed along the rock mouth-horizontal spiral in this area, which divides this area into two geomorphic units.
