Geographical location of Tawang area

Tawang is the pearl of southern Tibet and the fertile soil developed earlier in southern Tibet. In a narrow sense, Tawang refers to the small towns around Tawang Temple.

Now commonly referred to as Tawang, refers to the Tawang area, that is, the area between the McMahon line and the Himalayan ridge east of Bhutan, which is nearly 2,200 square kilometers.

19 14, McMahon originally drew the McMahon line according to the principle of Himalayan ridge watershed, but in order to draw Tawang into the British-Indian control area, McMahon drew the McMahon line in Tawang area to the north of Himalayan ridge watershed, thus drawing Tawang to the British-Indian side south of the Maixian line. The real Himalayan ridge watershed in Tawang area is Xishankou (Sala) line.
