Can I reach the top of Mount Jiuhua without climbing?
You can’t reach the top of Mount Jiuhua without climbing.
There is a cable car in Jiuhua Mountain to the top of the mountain, but it also requires a long walk. It is impossible not to reach the top of the mountain in one step. Jiuhua Mountain, located in Qingyang County, Chizhou City, Anhui Province, is one of the first batch of national key scenic spots and a famous summer resort. It is now a national 5A tourist area and a national civilized scenic tourist area demonstration site.
Jiuhua Mountain was called Lingyang Mountain and Jiuzi Mountain in ancient times. It got its name because its nine peaks resemble lotus flowers. The mountain is composed of granite, with a steep shape and soaring into the sky. It is known as the "No. 1 Mountain in the Southeast". It still retains the golden plaque "The No. 1 Mountain in the Southeast" given by Emperor Qianlong.
Geological Structure
Jiuhua Mountain is one of the three major mountain systems in the southern Anhui Province. Geotectonically, it is located in the middle of the Lower Yangtze Platform Depression of the Yangtze quasi-platform. The folds and fault structures in the Jiuhua Mountain Area are well developed, and magma activities are also frequent. The main body of Mount Jiuhua is a strongly faulted uplift zone composed of granite bodies. Except for some sedimentary rocks in its edge areas, most of the folded fault blocks are lightly uplifted zones composed of granodiorite.
The strata distributed in the Jiuhua Mountain Area mainly consist of black siliceous carbonaceous shale, gray-green shale, argillaceous limestone, argillaceous striped limestone, and Thick gray limestone, yellow-green silty shale, fine sandstone, etc.
They are all uplifted by folds or fault blocks to form the low mountains and hills outside Jiuhua Mountain. Most of the Jiuhuashan area is composed of intrusive rock masses, and the main part is composed of the Yanshanian Jiuhuashan granite body, which intrudes along the center of the Qingyang rock mass and extends nearly east-west. Most of the contact surfaces of the rock mass are outwardly inclined, with an inclination angle of 40-50°, and contact metamorphism occurs in contact with the surrounding rock, with a width of several hundred meters.
