Provincial Highway 202, also known as Ping She Highway, is a scenic avenue from Pingshan to Shexian, starting from Xia Dongyu Village in the northwest of Pingshan in the north and reaching Zhangjiatou Village in the southernmost part of Shexian in the south. Friends who are familiar with maps can easily find that this is a heavenly road stretching deep in Taihang Mountain.

As long as I can remember, this road has existed. I just heard from the older generation that it is difficult to walk. Many roads are curved and dangerous. This doesn't count. The key is that the road conditions are so bad that it is almost impossible to walk the whole line. It is not necessarily bumpy and does not have the traffic conditions. However, with the passage of time and the development of Taihang Mountain tourism resources, all localities have begun to attach importance to the construction of this road. Now, the road conditions of the whole Pingyou Highway have been greatly improved, except for some sections that need careful driving, which have fully met the traffic conditions.

The place we can reach by car is the lower reservoir, and the upper reservoir is located at the top of Laoyemiao Mountain. It is a newly-built energy storage and power generation reservoir that began in the early 20th century. The natural height difference between the two reservoirs is about 350 meters. Pumping up the water from the lower reservoir of Zhanghewan, and using the mountain drop to realize energy storage and power generation. The construction of Zhanghewan Pumped Storage Power Station Reservoir also played a great role during the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, which eased the power shortage during the peak period of the Olympic Games and provided Beijing with 4 hours of electricity.

The construction of Zhanghewan Reservoir was built bit by bit by Jingxing people with their own painstaking efforts. The process is hard, and some people even lost their precious lives here. The whole construction process is an epic history. Besides, there are many legends here. Locals all know that when the reservoir was built, two bowl-sized pythons were blown up. One was killed and the other was hidden in a cave above the reservoir. I don't know whether it is true or not, but it also casts a mysterious veil on Zhanghewan Reservoir.

We must choose the right season to take the flat water highway. If we take this road in winter, we can hardly find its beauty. Spring, summer and autumn have their own beauty and charm.

Xingtai is full of apples and chestnut trees, and there is a special hometown of apples, where apples are also famous. The first time I saw chestnuts still growing on trees, the thorns outside were very hard. You should be careful when you look at them. Breathing fresh air all the way is refreshing.

When we entered Handan, the scenic spots became more dense, such as Qibugou, Jingniang Lake and East Taihang Mountain. Show the natural scenery of Taihang Mountain to the fullest. We rowed in Jingniang Lake, boarded the East Taihang Mountain, and felt the charm of Taihang Mountain at close range.

If it happens to rain, if you walk along this road, you will have the illusion of coming to National Highway 3 18 (a distance from East Taihang), which is amazing.

When you get to Shexian county at the southernmost tip, you can go to 129 division headquarters. When we came here, the heroic deeds of 129 division in Taihang Mountain area are still vivid. When we finish this trip, we will be baptized by the red spirit again. It's the finishing touch.

It is best to prepare for two or three days on the road by car, so you can play in depth.
