What is Chai Dance in ethnic performances?
The firewood dance is called "Zhuansha" in Li language. It is one of the oldest and most popular dances of the Li people. It originated from the funeral activities of the Li people in ancient Yazhou. With the changes of the times, the custom of collecting firewood and dancing has gradually spread and evolved among the Li people. Nowadays, it has become a kind of sports and fitness activity with national cultural color, and has spread rapidly at home and abroad. It is praised by foreign friends as "a rare aerobics in the world". On June 2, 2006, the State Council approved the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage lists determined by the Ministry of Culture and was officially announced to the public.
