The Buddhist Association’s election process

Work arrangements:

1. The democratic management organization of the temple proposes candidates for the abbot.

2. The district Ethnic, Religious and Overseas Chinese Bureau and relevant streets (towns) will solicit opinions from temple monks, laypeople, and believers on the candidates and review the candidates.

3. The temple held a meeting to change the abbot’s term. The candidate for the abbot was approved by more than half of the people after two rounds of popular democratic reviews, and the temple’s democratic management organization reported it to the district Minzong and Foreign Affairs Bureau.

4. After review and approval by the District Minzong and Overseas Chinese Bureau, the democratic management organization of the temple shall report it to the District Minzong and Overseas Chinese Bureau for record in accordance with the provisions of the "Regulations on the Registration of Main Teaching Positions at Religious Activity Sites". ? ?

Better strengthen the internal management of Buddhist temples, enrich the management team, improve the management mechanism, and ensure the harmony, stability, standardization and orderliness of the Buddhist community in our region. According to the "Measures for the Appointment of Abbots of Chinese Buddhist Temples" (National According to Article 5 of the Zong Bureau [2010] No. 8), in accordance with the requirements of the Citizen Zong Bureau's "Notice on Doing a Good Job in the Replacement of the Abbots of Buddhist Temples" (Changzu Zongzi (2017) No. 9), it was decided to organize a survey of our district in 2014 Temples that have not held a regular leadership change since January will have a new leadership.

Notes:

The registration of major teaching staff must be done strictly in accordance with the requirements of the State and Religious Affairs Bureau. Candidates for abbotship recommended by all places must be reported to the district Minzong and Overseas Chinese Affairs Bureau for registration before the change of appointment can be carried out; any change of appointment that fails to complete the registration formalities according to the procedures is invalid; any change of appointment that fails to be completed as required will be included in the key rectification targets.
