How I got into the travel industry
High school is Level 02. Because I did not do well in the college entrance examination in the first year, I repeated it for a year, but the results in the second year were still unsatisfactory.
But before the results of the college entrance examination came out, I decided to study tourism.
I have a cousin in my family who majored in English in college. After graduation, she worked as a tour guide. She could earn about 10,000 yuan during the National Day holiday. The East China route she led at that time was a star route at that time. At that time, the salary of a civil servant was only around 3,000, so my family was very envious and asked me to join them.
In those years, the tourism industry had just begun. Many people thought it was great to go to a place far away for a few hundred yuan, so one route could send seven or eight buses a week. At that time Jiahua was only renting one floor of an office building in Jinan. Many years later, Jiahua was able to buy an entire floor of a large-area office building in Beijing.
I majored in tourism at a school close to my home. Our department head and teachers would go out for inspections every year, and then take pictures for us to see in the auditorium. What impressed me deeply was A set of photos of the Maldives. I was impressed at the time because it was so beautiful and clean like a fairyland. The reason I can’t forget it many years later is because I have been working in this industry for ten years and very few customers choose the Maldives. Because the price is too high, basically more than 10,000, and another reason is that departure is not very convenient. Only cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen have direct flights.
But my teachers had already set foot on that land 10 years ago, and they were still a mighty team. I didn’t count the specific number of people. I only remember that in the group photo, there were many people standing for a long time, and they were smiling very much. happy.
Our department’s funds must be very sufficient.
I have to add that the children in our department also have to go out for internships every year. The internship locations are selected by the department and we have the right to choose among them (tourism in the university) (our business is not purely tourism, our full name is travel agency and hotel management). When I was a freshman, I went to Beidaihe Sanatorium. Many government agencies in Beijing went there to recuperate for two months during the summer. We arrived before they arrived. Need to clean up in advance.
Except for cooking ourselves, we have to do everything else, such as selecting vegetables in the kitchen, chopping vegetables, setting the table in the restaurant, cleaning up leftovers, cleaning toilets, sweeping the yard, etc... except cooking Everything except.
We get up at five o'clock in the morning and serve breakfast. After everyone has finished eating, we have breakfast at about 9 o'clock, and then go back to the dormitory to sleep; we return to work at about 10:30 and serve lunch, and lunch around 2 p.m. Go back to bed again; return to work at 4 o'clock to serve dinner. Our dinner time is not sure, because many times they have to drink, and the time when they finish drinking is our dinner time.
At that time, I often thought: If my mother knew that I was doing this here, would she be distressed to death? I myself didn’t understand the meaning of this internship.
Our salary is 600 yuan a month, which is almost equivalent to 1,000 yuan today.
I am also an intern in the second half of my sophomore year. This time it is a one-year internship. The location is found within the department. The money is still about 1,000, but the department will rent a place to live in, a very remote house. There are mostly basements for several people. If there are students who must choose an internship in a travel agency, the department will not care about it, so you can contact them yourself. Our classmates can get a salary of more than 2,000 yuan from the company they found.
At that time, the students understood where the department’s sufficient travel funds came from.
I did not choose to go to the hotel. I went home and arranged for an insurance company to take care of it. In short, the final internship report only needs to be stamped by the employer, so there is no hardship.
When I graduated, there happened to be a travel agency in my hometown that had just opened, so I went to work directly. It has been 10 years now. I worked part-time for the first five years, and then I opened my own travel agency until now, which can be regarded as Professionally matched.
The blow to travel agencies in 2020 will be fatal. The actual situation is much more difficult than the official figures. Every time it feels like a turning point is coming, the epidemic will come back to act as a monster. I don’t know what the situation will be like next year, and Go and cherish it!
