My experiences in Yangpingguan Town, Hanzhong, Shaanxi Province

When I was young, I listened to the novel "The Romance of the Three Kingdoms" and learned that in ancient Hanzhong, there was a place where military strategists must compete, called Yangping Pass.

When I grew up, because my internship after college was in Chengdu, I took the train from Xi'an on the Baocheng Line, so I roughly knew the specific location of Yangpingguan.

Later, because of work and travel, I traveled to Sichuan many times, so I turned a blind eye to Yangping Pass. In addition, Yangping Pass is not a great place, so I ignored Yangping Pass.

In the late 1980s, I became interested in Yangping Pass again after watching the old version of the TV series "Romance of the Three Kingdoms". But at that time, I was young, and my love for something was only a three-minute passion. After the TV series was finished, I forgot about Yang Pingguan.

This year’s slow life trip originally did not include Yangpingguan, but by some mistake, the ancient town of Yangpingguan was added to the route that had no travel route.

In order to travel to Yangpingguan Ancient Town well, I checked Baidu and Baidu Maps. I didn’t know if I didn’t check. But this time I checked, it was bad. Yangpingguan Ancient Town is 60 or 70 kilometers away from Yangpingguan. kilometer. Ancient Yangping Pass was in what is now Mian County, and Yangping Pass, an important town that the current Baocheng Railway passes through, was actually in Ningqiang County. Because of this incident, I almost made a big joke.

It seems that Yangpingguan Ancient Town has deviated from the baseline route planned this time. Well, let’s settle for the next best thing and go to today’s Yangpingguan.

We started from Qingmuchuan in Ningqiang County and took the No. 12 bus from Qingmuchuan to Yangpingguan. We changed buses due to dangerous bridges on the way and it took two hours to arrive at Yangpingguan.

My overall impression of Yangpingguan is that it is dirty, messy and old, because I am not familiar with it. Due to the local terrain, Yangpingguan Old Street was missed.

It is said that Zilong Mountain is in Yangpingguan Town. We asked passers-by and got to the foot of the mountain, but there was no way up the mountain. This so-called Zilong Mountain Scenic Area is in name only. In fact, whether it is Yangpingguan or Yanzi Bian, as long as you are deep in the mountains, you will have blue sky and white clouds on a sunny day, beautiful mountains and rivers, and fresh air.

If it is tourism, don’t go to Yangpingguan; if it is leisure travel, don’t go to Yangpingguan; if it is cultural experience, for example, you need to understand the working principle of railway switches and feel the human geography of Yangpingguan Culture, to experience life in Yangpingguan, then go to Yangpingguan, because life is perception.
