Why did you suspend the Maldives tour?

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recently responded to the situation in Maldives!

On February 8, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Geng Shuang held a regular press conference and answered questions on the situation in Maldives.

Q: We have noticed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of China in Maldives have recently raised the consular alert level of China citizens to the highest level, and the spokesman has repeatedly stated his position on the issue of China citizens going to Maldives. Can you tell us whether the group tour of China citizens to Malaysia has stopped at present?

A: At present, Maldives has entered a state of emergency. On February 5th, according to the local security situation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of China in Maldives issued a safety reminder for China citizens not to travel to Maldives in the near future.

Geng Shuang emphasized that citizens of China should pay close attention to the above reminders, attach great importance to tourism safety risks while planning their outbound trips during the Spring Festival, and fully communicate and negotiate with travel agencies, hotels and airlines to properly solve common problems caused by considerable unexpected factors.

It is understood that China National Tourism Administration has also issued a safety reminder, prompting domestic travel agencies to suspend the organization of travel to Malaysia. China citizens are requested to pay close attention to the above reminder. While planning to travel abroad during the Spring Festival, we should attach great importance to tourism safety risks, fully communicate and negotiate with travel agencies, hotels and airlines, and properly solve the joint problems caused by objective unexpected factors.
