Taizhou is located in the middle of Jiangsu Province, on the north bank of the Yangtze River, facing Yangzhou in the west, Yancheng in the north and northeast, Nantong in the east, Suzhou-Xichang in the south and Yangzhong under the jurisdiction of Zhenjiang across the river. Qintong Ancient Town is located at the junction of Jiangsu River, Yancheng, Nantong and Taizhou, and the intersection of Yangtze River and Huaihe River. Here, Tomb-Sweeping Day holds a grand Qintong Dragon Boat Festival every year. In the early 1980s, local cadres and masses developed the desert beaches in piles, rationally exploited and utilized them, planted trees such as Taxodium ascendens and Metasequoia glyptostroboides adapted to water growth, and planted cash crops such as taro and rape in the forest. Today, more than 654.38 million Metasequoia glyptostroboides and Taxodium ascendens have grown into tall, dense and vibrant water gardens.
