I felt after reading "Kashgar in the Western Regions".
I bought a pirated copy of "The Cultural Journey" many years ago and I really liked Mr. Yu Qiuyu's writing style. I had different feelings when I read Yu Qiuyu when I was young and when I read Yu Qiuyu in middle age. Maybe because I am a Xinjiang native, I specially re-read "Kashgar of the Western Regions". Precisely because I am a Xinjiang native, my son once asked me a question: I really can't tell you how many famous people our Xinjiang has produced from ancient times to the present. Many people have the impression that Xinjiang is a barbaric land with no advanced civilization and no cultural giants. After reading the article, I, a Xinjiang native, regained my confidence. The article writes: "The Western Region is a great place where the largest exchanges and integrations of major human civilizations took place. This place meets two conditions. First, it must be a place with a vast land and sparsely populated areas, far away from all major civilizations. The capital of China is relatively far away, and no one can feel the danger. However, the civilization that all tour groups want to get close to has a tolerant spirit that makes everyone feel at ease.” There is another sentence that remains fresh in my memory, “In Chinese civilization. Among the many "ancestors" in China, the most shocking in appearance and magnanimity are those from the Western Regions, including Kashgar. In front of the Tianshan Mountains and Kunlun Mountains, the three mountains and five mountains behind the other "ancestors" are a bit like bonsai. In front of the Taklimakan Desert, the solitary smoke in the desert and the sunset over the long river that other "ancestors" chanted were a bit too childish.
I am so proud of the beautiful Xinjiang!
