Appreciation of Zuyong's Looking at the Snow Peak in Central South China
See how Zhongnanshan takes off,
The white top is covered with floating clouds.
The warm sky at the snow line,
And the towns in the valley are getting colder and colder.
Appreciation of Zuyong's Poems
According to Volume 20 of Chronicle of Tang Poems, this poem was written by Zu Yong when he was in Chang 'an. The exam-oriented poems in the Tang Dynasty were limited to writing five words and six sentences, and twelve sentences, but Zuyong handed in four sentences. When someone asked him why he didn't finish it, he replied, "I'm exhausted." Zhong Nanshan is in the south of Chang 'an. Seeing Zhong Nanshan from Chang 'an, I can only see its north, so the poet used the word "Yin Ling" to indicate the position and part of the mountain he saw.
The word "Yin" is used accurately and concisely. Because it is a mountain shade, the temperature is low, and the heat of the sun is not enough to melt the snow, so there is residual snow. "Show"
Words, touch the beauty of Zhong Nanshan snow scene. Next, the second sentence describes the snow on the mountain in detail. The word "cloud" means that the mountain is high and the snow is thick. It is precisely because of the thick snow in Gao Xue that it seems to float in the clouds from a distance. The word "floating" is vivid, turning static into dynamic, adding vitality to the picture. These two sentences have written the meaning of the topic quite perfectly.
The last two sentences vividly show the typical characteristics after snow. The word "dusk" means that it is evening. The phrase "with a warm sky on the snow line" depicts Chu Qing after the snow, and the afterglow of the sunset is sprinkled on the top of the forest. The word "Ming" makes people seem to see the sparkling snow in the sunset. Lin Biao also used the word "table" well. Because it is the sunset, only the treetops at the top of the mountain can bathe in the sun. This sentence embodies the characteristics of sunny and snowy sunrise, and the snow on the mountain is bright and dazzling. In the city after snow, the snow on the ground and roof melts under the sunshine, absorbing a lot of heat, so that it is colder than when it snows. The poet grasped the characteristics of cold after snow and conveyed his true feelings about life, which is also widely experienced by people. These two sentences, one about the mountain and the other about the city, are closely related to the word "Wang" in the title; Write down what you see, write down what you feel, and tell the truth about the characteristics after the snow.
However, is this poem "meaningful" in words? Chewing this poem, I did write enough to write the meaning of the title, but it contains endless meanings.
Why does the poet compare Zhong Nanshan with Chang 'an, and make a sharp contrast between the snowy mountains, the colorful scenery on the forest surface and the dim twilight and chilly scenes in the city? Isn't this intentionally or unintentionally revealing your dislike of the turbid officialdom and the indifferent world, so that you are fascinated by the noble and beautiful nature?
