What kind of weather is Meiyu, and where does it usually happen?

The precipitation in eastern China is mainly brought by the summer monsoon. When the warm and humid air of summer monsoon enters the north and meets the cold air from north to south, the lighter warm and humid air will be lifted into the cold air because the warm air is light and the cold air is heavy. In the rising process of warm and humid air flow, due to the continuous decrease of temperature, water vapor will cool and condense to form rain clouds, which are called frontal rain. Frontal rain covers a wide range and often forms rain belts. In the early summer of each year, the winter and summer monsoon in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River is evenly matched. This rain belt lingers here, and the rain lasts 1 month. This is the season when plums are ripe, so people also call it the rainy season. In July and August, just after the rainy season, with the northward retreat of the winter wind, the rain belt moved out of the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, resulting in sunny and dry weather. This kind of drought that occurs in dog days is also called summer drought.
