Season and Best Time of Mandarin Fish in China

When the temperature is between 18-32℃ and the water temperature rises, the activity of Siniperca chuatsi will gradually increase. This is the golden season of mandarin fish in China (June-late autumn). Morning and dusk are the best time periods, followed by midnight, which is also a good time period with high oxygen content in the water after rain. If you encounter rainy season or rainy day, you can walk all day at this time.

Mandarin fish generally inhabit still water or slow flowing water, especially in lakes with lush aquatic plants. I have no activities in winter. I often spend the winter in deep water, but I won't stop eating completely.

When the weather gets warmer in spring, they will swim to the shallow coastal areas for food. At this time, Siniperca chuatsi lies on its side in the cave under the lake during the day and moves in the water grass for food at night. They mainly feed on other fish, and their food intake is poor in June and July.
