Most varieties in the northern variety group need low temperature for longer than those in the southern variety group. If the average temperature in three months in winter is above 100C, the flowering period in the next spring will be uneven, and even the buds will die off, which will affect the fruit and cause yield reduction. The cold tolerance of peaches is different in different periods. Flower buds are only frozen at-180C in dormancy, and can only tolerate the low temperature of -60C in bud stage, and are frozen when the flowering temperature is lower than 00 C.

Moisture peach is native to the mainland plateau, which is drought-tolerant, with too much rainfall, easy to make branches and leaves white and long, poor flower bud differentiation quality, small quantity, fruit with color difference, light taste, poor quality and poor storage resistance. Due to the different requirements for water under different climatic conditions for a long time, the southern variety group is resistant to humid climate and performs well in the south, while the northern variety group is easy to grow too fast, with few flower buds, poor fruit and low quality when cultivated in the south. Peach likes drought, but in the spring growth period, especially in the early stage of hard core and the rapid growth period of new shoots, drought and water shortage will affect the growth and development of branches and fruits, leading to serious fruit drop. Drought and water shortage during fruit expansion will reduce metabolism, inhibit cell hypertrophy and growth, and at the same time, the assimilation of leaves will also be affected, reducing the accumulation of nutrients. There is more rain in the south, and early-maturing varieties are generally not short of water. When the fruit of late-maturing varieties expands, it is in the midsummer drought period, and the leaf transpiration is also large. Therefore, appropriate irrigation should be carried out according to the actual situation to promote fruit expansion.

Peach blossoms should not be rainy. Nanhui District sometimes experienced continuous rainy weather in peach blossom period, which led to serious production reduction in that year. Peach trees are extremely waterlogging-tolerant, and they are easy to die after the soil accumulates water.

3. Prunus persica is a plant with strong photophobia. The upper branches of the crown are too dense, which is easy to cause the lower branches to die and lead to baldness. In this way, the parts will move out quickly, and insufficient light will also lead to poor root development, less flower bud differentiation, more flowers and fruits falling, and poor fruit quality.

4. Soil Peach trees have low requirements for soil, and sandy loam with good drainage and strong permeability is the most suitable. For example, the sandy soil is too heavy, the organic matter is lacking, the water and fertilizer conservation ability is poor, and the growth is inhibited. Although flower buds are easy to form and bear fruit early, the yield is low and the life span is short. When cultivated in clay or fertile soil, the trees grow vigorously, enter the fruiting period late, and are prone to fruit drop, low early yield, small fruit opening, light taste and poor storage resistance, and are prone to gummosis. Therefore, organic fertilizer should be added to the sandy soil to deepen the soil layer, induce the root system to develop in depth, and pay attention to root plate mulching in summer to maintain soil moisture. For clayey soil, more organic fertilizer should be applied, deep ridge and high ridge should be used, three ridges should be combined, drainage should be strengthened, row spacing should be relaxed appropriately, and light cutting should be reasonable.

The PH value of soil should be slightly acidic to neutral, that is, PH5-6 is the best growth, and when the PH value is lower than 4 or higher than 8, the growth is poor, and alkaline soil is prone to yellow leaf disease. Peach trees are very sensitive to salt in the soil. When the soil salt content is above 0. 14%, they will suffer, and when the salt content reaches 0.28%, they will die. Therefore, when peach trees are cultivated in the eastern part of Nanhui District, salt reduction measures such as deep furrow and high ridge, increasing organic fertilizer, planting green manure, deep ploughing and green mulching should be taken according to the law of salt coming with water, salt going with water, gas hydrate and salt separation.
