Which consumes more energy, cold or hot?

The consumption of cold is relatively large.

According to the Atlantic Monthly, scientists from Maastricht University in the Netherlands suggested in the journal Endocrinology and Metabolic Trends that shivering can increase your metabolic rate by five times, and cold weather will consume accumulated energy. Dr Wouter van Marken Lichtenbelt and his colleagues believe that moderate cold can be used as a way to burn calories.

Dr Lichtenbelt explained: whether it is cold or not, our bodies will burn energy to keep warm in the process of non-shivering thermogenesis (NST). Non-shivering thermogenesis is a kind of exothermic mode that does not involve muscle activity.
