The history of Lecheng Street

In the seventh year of Liang Tianjian (508) in the Southern Dynasty, Lianghua County was established here. Lecheng was called the southern capital ten years before Tongzhi of the Qing Dynasty (1871). After Tongzhi, it was changed to urban and rural areas. During the Republic of China, it was called Fu Town. In 1949, it became an affiliated town of District 1 of Lechang County. An attached urban area was established in 1955. It was changed to Chengguan Town in 1957 and renamed Lecheng Town in 1985. The original Henan Town was named because it was located on the south bank of Wujiang River, separated from Lecheng by only a river. Before Tongzhi in the Qing Dynasty, it belonged to Rongcundu, Jianfu Township. After Tongzhi, it was called Xixiang. It was changed to the Fourth District in the Republic of China. It was merged into Chengguan Town in 1949. Xixiang was restored in 1957. Hongqi Commune was built in 1958 and merged into Jiufeng Commune in the winter of the same year. , Hongqi Commune was established in 1959, renamed Henan Commune in 1961, established as a district in 1983, established as a township in 1987, and renamed Henan Town in August 1993.

In 1996, Lecheng City had an area of ??44 square kilometers and a population of 80,000. It governed six administrative villages including Fucheng, Xilian, Liucun, Liantang, Damuqiu, and Changjing, as well as Fuqian Street, Xianfeng Street There are 5 neighborhood committees in Henan Street, Dadong Street, Hongxing Street, and Xincun Street; Henan Town covers an area of ??182 square kilometers and has a population of 16,000. It governs Henan, Zhangxi, Tatou, Tianjinggang, Honglian, Yueqiu, Xiaxi, and Wangping , 10 administrative villages of Dadong and Xiaodong. In 2000, Lecheng Town had an area of ??36.91 square kilometers, of which the urban area was 10 square kilometers, and the town government was located in Xianghua Street, Jiefang Road; Henan Town had an area of ??150.7 square kilometers, with a population of 18,000, and the town government was located in Henan Street, Lecheng Town.

In July 2003, Lecheng Town and Henan Town were abolished and merged to establish Lecheng Subdistrict, covering an area of ??186.61 square kilometers. It has jurisdiction over 11 neighborhood committees, 1 living management area and 16 administrative villages. The office is located in Henan Street (formerly the seat of Henan Town Government). In 2010, the urban area was 14 square kilometers and the urban population was 168,600; it governed 11 neighborhood committees in the north, south, east, Zhanqian, Hongling, Xianfeng Street, Fuqian Street, Xincun Street, Zhulin New Village, Dachang and Huaming There are 16 administrative villages including Fucheng, Liantang, Damuqiu, Changjing, Liucun, Henan, Tianjinggang, Honglian, Zhangxi, Yueqiu, Xiaxi, Tatou, Xilian, Wangping, Dadong and Xiaodong.
