What does Mazu culture mean? What is Mazu culture!

Mazu culture has been popular in the Han cultural circle for thousands of years, and it is a culture with distinctive national characteristics that originated from the traditional moral concepts and values of the Chinese nation.

At present, scholars at home and abroad generally believe that Mazu, like Guan Yu and Yue Fei, is not a fictional idol, but a historical figure who came out of the people and was sanctified. Lin was born on March 23rd in the Song and Yuan Dynasties (AD 960) and died on September 9th in the fourth year of Song Yongxi (AD 987). She is a folk woman who lives in Meizhou Island, Putian, Fujian.

Legend has it that on the night of Mazu's birth, the neighbors saw the room full of red light, crystal clear and the fragrance lingered for a long time. Because he never cried from birth to the full moon, he was named Maureen. She is familiar with water and can sail across the sea to save sunken ships. Ships in distress in Meizhou Bay often get her help. Be good at observing astronomical phenomena, predicting weather changes, and informing boatmen in advance whether they can sail; She also specializes in medicine, and can use herbs to treat diseases, prevent epidemics and save lives and reduce disasters.

Her ambition is to be merciful all her life, to help the world and save people, to promote good and eliminate evil, so she is determined not to marry, and even her parents must obey her wishes. At the age of 28, the day before the Double Ninth Festival, Maureen said goodbye to her family and went straight to the summit of Mae Peak, turning into a white gas and soaring into the sky. Since then, villagers often see her appear, or sit in the clouds, or fly in red to save fishermen in distress, so they built a temple where she ascended to heaven, honoring her as "Mazu" and paying tribute to her. There is also a folk saying that "Maureen was unfortunately killed while rescuing the sunken ship."
