Can 737 fly to the plateau?
737 can fly high on the plateau. In the field of international civil aviation, there is a strict definition of high-altitude airports. Airports located below the altitude of1500m (5000ft) and 2483m (8000ft) are called plateau airports. Airports located at an altitude of more than 2,483 meters (8,000 feet) are called plateau airports. Correspondingly, the routes involving plateau airports and plateau airports are also called plateau routes and plateau routes. Compared with the thin air mentioned above, the special geographical environment and climatic conditions of plateau airport (large temperature difference between day and night, severe wind turbulence in winter and spring, extreme weather such as snowfall, sand blowing, thunderstorm in summer and autumn, wind shear, etc.) bring great difficulties to safe flight. Moreover, the plateau route has high obstacles and few optional alternate fields. This puts forward higher requirements for pilots flying high-altitude routes than ordinary routes. Airlines generally select captains and co-pilots who participate in the operation of plateau routes from pilots with high technical level, such as captains and instructors. All pilots flying to high-altitude airports should have the ability to deal with various special situations at high altitude, such as wind shear, engine room pressure relief, single engine drift, flap jamming and so on. For the co-pilot, you must have more than 500 hours of flying experience, and you must have a pilot with flying experience in a plateau airport like Kunming to get the training qualification for participating in the co-pilot on plateau routes. The requirement for the pilot's flight experience is more than 800 hours before he can get the qualification to participate in the training of plateau routes.
