In ancient times, Chaisang, Jiangzhou and Xunyang were prefecture-level cities under the jurisdiction of Jiangxi Province. Jiujiang is one of the regional central cities in Jiangxi Province, a dual-core city with the integration of Changsha and Jiujiang, and a sub-central city around Poyang Lake urban agglomeration.
