Why is it so cold this year? Most people think that this sudden drop in temperature is the result of a cold wave, but in their eyes, the so-called cold wave is cold air. In fact, this statement is not entirely correct. Here we want to say that although the cold wave is cold air, not all cold air is cold.

Strictly speaking, a cold wave means that the temperature drops by 8℃ within 24 hours, or by 10℃ within 48 hours, or by 72℃ within three days under the influence of cold air.

According to the degree of cooling, cold wave can be divided into three types: blue warning, yellow warning and orange warning, of which orange warning is the most serious and blue warning is the weakest, while the cold wave being suffered now is blue warning, and the cold wave before New Year's Day is the most serious orange warning.

It should be noted that the reason why the temperature after New Year's Day is colder than that before New Year's Day is because it drops again on the basis of the previous decline, so the temperature will be colder.

The reason why it is so cold this year is mainly because of La Nina phenomenon.

La Nina phenomenon La Nina phenomenon refers to the cold water phenomenon with certain intensity and duration when the surface temperature of the East China Sea in the equator is abnormal. And El Nino are "two sisters". Although both of them will bring about abnormal changes in global climate, their impacts on the earth are different.

In fact, since August 2020, the seawater temperature in the Pacific Ocean has been abnormal. In September, meteorologists discovered La Nina phenomenon, which means that the earth is very likely to have extremely cold weather, that is, in the winter of 2020, it is possible that the winter will be different because of La Nina's influence.

Therefore, this winter's cold wave in China was affected by La Ni? a phenomenon. Not only China experienced extreme climate, but also Spain and Siberia were affected by La Ni? a, resulting in persistent snowstorms.

Global warming does not mean a "warm winter". On the contrary, global warming will also change the global atmospheric circulation situation, leading to extreme weather events in some areas, including cold wave, which is an extreme weather climate. This La Nina phenomenon only moves regularly at sea level and is unlikely to stop global warming.
