How high is the ghost king tide in Qiantang River?

On September 8th, it was learned from the Hydrological Department of Hangzhou that at 14 10, the "Ghost King Tide" of Qiantang River arrived at Guanchao City, Xiaoshan, Hangzhou, with a height of 1.2m and a viewing grade of 4 (from low to high, it is divided into 1 grade to 5).

According to reports, the June, July and August of the lunar calendar is the traditional peak season for tide watching in Qiantang River. In addition to the Qianjiang spring tide on August 18, it is called "the world without its splendor", and July 18 of the lunar calendar is also a big flood season, which is also called "Ghost King Tide" because it appears after the Mid-Yuan Festival.

"'Ghost King Chao' is a folk name. Theoretically, the tide on July 18th of the lunar calendar is about the same as that on August 18th, which is an order of magnitude. It's just sometimes slightly different due to the weather and wind direction. From the observation data, the tides in late autumn are generally larger. " Ji Zhansheng, head of the hydrological department of Hangzhou Hydrological and Water Resources Monitoring Station, told the newspaper.

According to reports, the factors affecting the tides in Qiantang River include celestial movement, riverbed conditions, typhoons, air pressure and so on. The period and trajectory of celestial bodies are fixed, which determines the initial size of tidal bore. River bed conditions, typhoon and air pressure have different effects on tidal bore. Generally speaking, the tide of Qiantang River mainly depends on the change of riverbed related to rainfall: the sediment deposited at the bottom of the river is washed away by the rainy season, which makes the riverbed lower. If the rainfall is heavy and the river bed is deepened, it is beneficial to the influx of tides.

According to the statistics of the local maritime department in Hangzhou, in recent three years (20 14~20 16), the "Ghost King Tide" on July 18 was almost 3 meters high (the water level at the observation point at high tide), and the tide level was as high as on August 26th this year (the fifth day of the sixth lunar month).

The "Ghost King Tide" on August 13, 2065438 (July 18th of the lunar calendar) was extremely fierce. When the tide came to Xiaoshan Guanchao City at 14: 40, it soared as high as 1.3 meters. In Xiashaqige, Hangzhou, many tide watchers and pedestrians were unable to dodge and were knocked to the ground, causing many injuries to varying degrees.

In order to catch a glimpse of the equally spectacular "Ghost King Tide" in Qiantang River, many tourists have already arrived at the tide observation point on September 7. According to reports, at about 7 14 o'clock, in Qiantang River, Xiashaqige, Hangzhou, tide watchers came in droves, with more than 200 people on the scene. In order to ensure the safety of tide watching, Hangzhou Damp-proof Office has sent special tide summoners to manage on the spot to persuade people stranded in dangerous areas to leave.

People are curious, and everyone must want to see such a spectacular picture quickly.
