Natural conditions of the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River plains Main crops Production characteristics Labor force size
1. Analysis of natural conditions:
(1) The north of the Huaihe River is a warm temperate zone, and the rest are subtropical zones with very high temperatures in summer. Plains such as Jianghan, Dongting Lake, and Poyang Lake are Surrounded by mountains, it is difficult to dissipate heat and is known for being hot. Crops can be harvested twice a year or three times a year. The area north of the Huaihe River is a semi-humid area, and the rest are humid areas. In late spring and early summer, the right amount of plum rain at the right time is more beneficial to rice growth. If the plum rain is too short or too long, drought and waterlogging will occur. In July, the plum rains end. Under the control of subtropical high pressure, the weather is sunny and dry, forming a late summer drought. At this time, there is sufficient heat, large evaporation, and vigorous growth of crops. Sufficient water supply must be ensured, so the task of fighting drought is very heavy.
(2) The plains are vast, the river network is dense, and the irrigation water is sufficient.
(3) Red soil is widely distributed in the hills of Jiangnan. The red soil has little organic matter, is highly acidic, and has heavy soil texture. It is one of the main low-yielding soils in southern my country.
2. Agricultural characteristics:
(1) To the north of the Huaihe River, dry grains are mainly grown (Jianghuai area), to the south, paddy fields are mainly grown, and the Jianghan Plain, Dongting Lake Plain, The Poyang Lake Plain and the Yangtze River Delta are both famous rice-producing areas, ranking first in the country in terms of rice planting area and output. Wheat is also an important food crop in this region.
2) Economic crops include cotton, rapeseed, silkworms, etc. The Jianghan Plain, the coastal plains in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River and the coast of Hangzhou Bay are one of the main cotton production bases in my country. (Conditions for cotton planting: sufficient heat, deep and fertile soil, a long history of cotton planting, good technical conditions, and high commodity rate. Unfavorable conditions are plum rains in spring and summer, frequent typhoons in summer, and continuous rain in autumn) Rapeseed planting area is wide, It has become an overwintering crop in rice fields. The Taihu Plain in Zhejiang and Jiangsu provinces is the largest sericulture base in my country and is the famous "Silk House".
(3) The red soil area in the Jiangnan hills is suitable for the growth of tea, rapeseed, and fir trees, with large yields.
