Kanas Lake Monster Report
Legend of the local people
A long time ago, a herdsman drove a dozen horses to Kanas Lake to graze. The weather was fine and the sun was warm. The shepherd was lying on a meadow far away from the lake. The smell of grass was intoxicating, and his irresistible sleepiness gradually took him to sleep. A dozen horses either chewed the grass sweetly or ran to the lake to drink water. When the shepherd woke up, the horse was gone. The shepherd's heart is very nervous. He hurried to the lake to have a look. He was immediately shocked. I saw that the water by the lake was dyed blood red, and there were still some messy horseshoe prints on the shore. The shepherd was frightened and didn't dare to stay by the lake for long, so he hurried home. There are many such legends in the Lake District. It is said that the Kanas Lake monster is huge and unpredictable, and it can swallow a calf in one bite. It often attacks and devours cattle and horses by the lake. 193 1 A herdsman was grazing by the lake when he suddenly heard a "rumble" in the lake. The herdsmen were surprised and looked into the lake. Just now, a huge wave suddenly rose on the calm lake, and the waves flew and shone with dazzling red light in the sun. I saw more than a dozen giant red fish-shaped monsters tumbling and jumping on the water, stirring up the lake, which was very spectacular.
Legend of Tuva people
According to legend, a long time ago, Genghis Khan traveled westward through Kanas Lake and saw such a beautiful place. He decided to stay here for a while and let his troops have a rest. Genghis Khan drank the lake, which was very deep. He was very thirsty, so he asked his generals what kind of water it was. A clever general replied, "This is Kanos (Mongolian means the water of Khan)." All the soldiers replied in unison: "This is the water of Khan." Genghis Khan said, "Let's call this lake Kanas Lake." So in the legend of Tuwa people, they are descendants of Genghis Khan. After Genghis Khan's death, his body sank into Kanas Lake, and Tuwa people, as Genghis Khan's personal soldiers, stayed in Kanas Lake for generations. The "Lake Monster" is a "Lake Sage" to protect Genghis Khan's undead from infringement. Tuwa people said that their ancestors had organized two big operations to kill lake monsters. I once made a big iron hook, using cow's head as bait and cowhide as rope, and the other end of the rope was pulled by 20 horses. After waiting for a day, the lake monster took the bait and they drove the horse to pull it. They didn't go far, and 20 horses were foaming at the mouth. They had to wind the leather rope around several big trees. Just tied, the rope broke and the first operation failed. Another time, more than ten cows were slaughtered and a big net was made of cowhide. Five boats were trawling by the lake. The boats sank and the nets were broken. This action ended in failure.
Mysterious legend
It is said that a long time ago, the mountains on both sides of Kanas Lake clashed. The mountains that were close to each other have all gone, which has brought great disasters to the local people. As a result, the "Lake Sage" at the bottom of Kanas Lake appeared, stopped the movement of the mountain, and the people could live and work in peace and contentment again, free and happy.
The old man's statement
An old Mongolian headmaster said that according to the old people, one year, a calf was eating grass by the lake and was swallowed by Dahongyu. When he was young, there were many fish in the lake, and they were all very big. He has seen Dahongyu, which is nearly two meters long. In winter, if you open an ice hole in the lake, the fish will jump out of the hole. In the early winter of 1970s, three herders were driving a group of horses from the production team across the frozen Kanas Lake from the downstream. Unexpectedly, the ice was not firm, and there was a loud bang. A group of horses fell into the lake. A few days later, the lake froze again, and several craftsmen and horses were clearly visible under the ice. Herdsmen broke the ice and fished out several dead horses. The rest of the horses are missing their bones. The next spring, the lake ice thawed and the river flowed again, but the horse that fell into the lake did not even surface a bone, nor did it appear in the lower reaches of the river.
Russian legend
It is said that at the end of 19, a group of white Russians from Russia lived in a small village near Kanas Lake. A tough Russian went down to the lake and caught a "Dahongyu", which weighed several tons! He walked in the snow for three days and three nights with a dozen horses, but he still couldn't finish walking. So he had to bite the bullet and drop a lot of fish.
Legend of pike and fish
In the summer of 200 1, some famous photographers went to Kanas to collect the scenery. One day, the photographer who was absorbed in artistic creation heard someone shouting and turned to see that the monster was sticking its huge head out of the water. Although things came too suddenly to take a wonderful photo, a photographer still recalled: "Like a dog's head, it is definitely not a fish head, and its tail sticks out of the water." After the Spring Festival in 2004, photographers took pictures of winter scenery from the mountains and went down the mountain. When he met the local propaganda cadres, he repeatedly affirmed that the monster in the water he saw at that time was "definitely not a fish head."
