There is a memory called "a river without clear boundaries"

The village of Suri, the king of northern Shaanxi, where he lives, is in the mountains, with the Wuding River at the foot of the mountain. The sky is blue and high, and the valley gradually becomes a ravine. The earth seems to have given all the peace and tranquility to this ravine that can be shocked by just shouting. There is no wuding river rolling eastward and stormy in the ravine, only a dry riverbed and a small piece of river water in a low-lying place are left. From a distance, the riverbed and river are blue and touching, and they are in harmony with the blue sky and white clouds.

There are two piles of sand at the foot of the mountain, and rows of jujube trees on the beach are greedily sucking the sunshine. The floodplain is covered with wild ancient grass, kudzu vine and herbs, and there are three kinds of small flowers: white, yellow and blue. Most of the riverbed has dried up. On the river near the shore, there are pieces of soil cracked by the sun. They are so thin that they will break immediately and make a click when you step on them. The river bed in the middle of the river is bare, without soil covering, revealing a light blue stone bed. The river is clear, the bottom is covered with a layer of yellow mud, and occasionally one or two hydra swim on the surface. The fine water lines startled by the wind are shining with silver light, singing softly on the pebbles in the winding river ditch, and even a little naughty.

Wuding River is the main river in the Loess Plateau of northern Shaanxi. It winds around one loess slope after another, flows through eight counties in Yulin area, and then slowly turns to the north and enters the Ordos Plateau. There, it crosses the southern edge of the desolate Mu Us desert and finally pours into the rolling Yellow River. The total length of the river is 49 1km, and the drainage area is 30,260 square km. For the arid Loess Plateau and Ordos Plateau, this is not a small river.

However, I have always been interested in the origin of its name. Why is it called the Wuding River? I guess it may be that the channel of this river must be very unstable, and it often changes its position and moves around, so people call it this way. People who live in wet places like me may not understand what will happen to a river if it is well preserved. This is a characteristic of sandy rivers in arid areas.

In arid areas, especially where vegetation is sparse, the flowing ground is loose sand, which is easy to be washed away and infiltrated downwards, so the sediment concentration in rivers is high. In addition, the climate here is dry and evaporation is strong. Some rivers are flowing, the river water is reduced by evaporation, or seeps into the ground, becoming a trickle, or even completely dried up. As the river slowly decreases, so does the kinetic energy. When it is reduced to a certain extent, the river can no longer carry sediment, and the sediment will slowly accumulate and gradually block the river bed. The river bed is blocked, and the river cannot continue to flow along the original channel, which will make the river have to be diverted. This kind of blocking and diversion again and again, of course, is that the river keeps swinging on the sand, forming an indefinite river with no fixed flow direction.

Swear to sweep the Huns regardless of health,

Five thousand sable brocade in memory of Chen Hu.

Poor bones by the river,

I am still a dream girl.

A poem "Journey to the West in Longxi" (also known as "Travel Notes on the Great Wall") by Chen Tao, a little-known poet in the Tang Dynasty, is also immortal and has become a pearl in the field of poetry. This four-line poem, which has been handed down through the ages, is a vivid portrayal of blood and tears in ancient battles. It was sad and decisive, leaving another swan song for future generations. "Poor and restless, I am still a dream girl." We don't know where the "spring girl" is. Probably the soldiers and general heroes born on the battlefield of blood. The gentle and lovely person in my heart is in that distant hometown. However, the Wuding River is located in the border of the Tang Dynasty, and it has become a place where soldiers are splashed with blood. Entering the recorded history, the Wuding River Basin has become a battlefield. Let's not talk about the "5,000 sable brocade mourning Chen Hu" described in the Tang poetry. During the Xia, Shang and Zhou Dynasties, the Xiongnu in the north and the court in the south launched a bloody battle in the Wuding River basin. The Wuding River witnessed history. Qin and Han dynasties didn't stop, but Sui and Tang dynasties were still fighting. Until the Song and Ming Dynasties, it was a frontier and a battlefield.

The Wuding River originated in Dingbian, Shaanxi, but flows through the Salawusu River (Mongolian, meaning "Yellow Water") in the south of Uxin Banner, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. ) side. According to records, in 1922, French geologist Sang Zhihua first discovered a front tooth of Hetao people here. A large number of unearthed cultural relics prove that Hetao people lived here as early as 35,000 years ago. Imagine, 35,000 years ago, the whole Wuding River Basin was full of peach, willow and green, the clear water reflected the sun, the forest and grain were abundant, the four seasons were fragrant, the tame cattle and sheep were scattered all over the green Yuan Ye, and the "Hetao people" lived leisurely along the Wuding River. Probably, the Wuding River basin at that time was as beautiful as the Jiangnan water town today.

Uncle, they are still chatting in the diamond hole. I lay quietly on the riverbed stone, next to a pool of wuding river water My relatives in the south will not believe that I am lying in the middle of the river. The rolling Yellow River, especially the Wuding River with nine twists and eighteen bends, has always been a knot that southerners can't solve, so they can only think about it. Even standing by, I still feel like a passer-by. Soon, there was a cry from the mountainside, and I was going back. Crying echoed in the valley, drifting away with my thoughts. On the way back, I was still immersed in back-to-back communication with the Wuding River, and I couldn't completely extricate myself.

People in northern Shaanxi seldom take a bath, and occasionally only go to the nearby Wuding River to take a bath. Although Liu Shu's house where we live has a bathroom, water is hard to come by, and bathing feels luxurious. Generally, uncles don't want to wash at home, so we two boys unanimously choose to have a try in the river.

Go straight ahead from the path under Liu Shu's house, and you can reach the Wuding River. The river in that section has also been cut off, but there are still many banded ponds in the middle, which have not completely dried up. On one side of the river is a field planted with corn, sorghum, millet, potatoes, peanuts and sunflowers, and on the other side is a cliff more than 20 feet high. From time to time, gravel will roll down. At first, I was a little shy and thought it was a bit uncivilized to take a bath in the river, but I thought that I couldn't find another bathhouse and there were few people around, so I hid in the pool under the stone pile and washed it. It is said to be a pool, but in fact, water is living water and flowing. I have never bathed in such an open and magnificent place. Next to it is a messy pile of stones, and behind it is a mottled cliff. As soon as I called, I felt that the apes on both sides of the strait kept crying and their voices kept echoing in the valley. ...

Sunset gives a bronze color to the steep cliffs on the river beach, which easily leads to daydreams such as long smoke in the west wind, sunset glow and short pavilions. The fields are quiet. The night in the canyon is cool and quiet, and at the same time it is moist and fresh. The Wuding River water under the alkali dike is flashing with the rosy clouds of sunset, and you can hear a slight sound flowing quietly. The mountains in the distance are towering and abrupt, adding a quiet charm under the rough appearance.
