Nansha Islands, formerly known as Wanli Shitang, Wanlilongtan and Wansheng Shitangyu, are located in the south of the South China Sea, with Xiongnan Reef in the north, shoals in the south, Wan 'an Beach in the west and Haima Beach in the east. They are the southernmost islands in the South China Sea, with the largest number of islands and reefs and the widest distribution. It is under the jurisdiction of Nansha District, Sansha City, Hainan Province, People's Republic of China (PRC).

The annual average temperature and annual average sea surface temperature in Nansha Islands are higher than 27℃, ranking first in the South China Sea.
