Ding Dufeng, also known as Niuxinshan, Niuxintuo, Guacaojian, Rifengtuo, Wangdufeng and Shishan, is located in Tanzhesi Town, Mentougou District, with a panoramic view of Beijing. Dingdu Peak is surrounded by mountains, with rugged boulders and steep peaks. Geographical environment of Mentougou:
Mentougou district is located in the southwest of Beijing, with the east longitude 1 15 25' 00 "to1610' 07" and the north latitude of 39 48' 34 "to 4010. It is about 62 kilometers long from east to west and 34 kilometers wide from north to south, with a total area of 1455 square kilometers.
The mountainous area accounts for 98.5%, which is the only pure mountainous area in Beijing. It is adjacent to Haidian District and Shijingshan District in the east, Fangshan District and Fengtai District in the south, Zhuolu County and Laishui County in Hebei Province in the west and Changping District and Huailai County in Hebei Province in the north.
Mentougou District is located in the transition zone from North China Plain to Mongolia Plateau, with high terrain in the northwest and low terrain in the southeast. The strata in Mentougou area are mainly composed of glacial deposits of Jixian Formation and Qingbaikou Formation of Sinian, Cambrian, Carboniferous and Permian of Lower Paleozoic, Jurassic of Upper Paleozoic and Malan Formation and Baihuashan Formation of Quaternary. The Mesozoic Yanshan movement formed the terrane skeleton.
