Batang County is located in the west of Ganzi Prefecture and belongs to Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture. It is about 260 kilometers long from north to south and 45 kilometers wide from east to west. The area is 8 186 square kilometers. Batang County is located in the valley on the east bank of Jinsha River at the northern end of Hengduan Mountain, which runs through the whole territory.
