Langshan historic site

Langshan was originally in the Yangtze River. Jian Zhen, a monk in the Tang Dynasty, stayed at Langshan Mountain when he visited Japan for the third time. It was not until the Northern Song Dynasty that Langshan was connected with the land. There are many places of interest in Langshan Mountain, and the ceramic tile murals of eighteen monks, an artistic treasure, are displayed in the temple. Climbing up the stairs, the King Kong Hall, the Great Compassion Hall, the Tibetan Scripture Building, the Three Immortals Hall and the Kwai Bamboo Mountain House climb to the top of the mountain, and Daguan Platform, the Temple, the Millennium Pagoda and the Great Temple are dazzling, such as "Pingwo Monument", "Tomb of the White Martyr, one of the four outstanding figures in the early Tang Dynasty" and Kangxi Imperial Bookstore. Beilu Garden is under the cliff on the northern slope of Langshan Mountain, where the rocks are rugged and the cliff stands upright, which is wonderful! The peaks, rocks, caves and rocks of Langshan Mountain are the most famous here.

Entering the Wolf Mountain Gate, it is the Dharma Temple, which was originally the "Daxiong Hall" of Guangjiao Temple, also known as Sakyamuni Hall. The three-sided tile murals in the hall are portraits of 18 famous monks in China from the Eastern Han Dynasty to modern times, painted by the famous contemporary painter Fan Ceng. On the west side of Ursa Major Hall is a solid brick tower with seven floors and four sides, which is called the magic tower. To commemorate the abbot of Langshan Guangjiao Temple (976- 1983) during the period of Taiping and Xingguo in the Northern Song Dynasty, there is a tablet pavilion in the north of the tower, which contains the "Futai Pingwo Monument" erected in the thirty-ninth year of Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty (1560), which records the historical facts of the Ming Dynasty's fight against the Japanese pirates. The first place in Tashi is Zilang Garden, which was originally the "Sanxian Pavilion" and is now a restaurant.

Then, on the right side of the road is the tomb of the white martyrs. Bai Nantong, patriotic scholar, teacher of Li Dazhao. He led the Luanzhou Uprising during the Revolution of 1911 and died heroically. On the south slope of Shandong, Wansongling has Wangjiang Pavilion, overlooking the mighty Yangtze River, and Fuyu Mountain in the south of the Yangtze River is faintly visible. Above is the Bamboo Kwai Mountain House, and in front is the Kangxi Imperial Monument Pavilion. Climbing to the top of Langshan Mountain, you can see the main building complex of Guangjiao Temple, Daguan Platform in front of the temple, with a wide field of vision and panoramic views of landscapes and pastoral areas. There are couplets on both sides of the temple gate: "The whistling ravine should smell, look up at the sky."

The entrance is Cui Jing Building, a two-story building that used to be a theater. According to people in the theater industry, such a perfect "temple stage" is rare in China. Through the Cui Jing Building, you can see Tong Yuan Hall, the largest Buddha statue in Wolf Mountain Temple, with a height of 4.5 meters. There are "Sixteen Masters" statues on both sides. The Zhiyun Pagoda behind the temple was built during the reign of Taiping and Xingguo in the Northern Song Dynasty (976 ~ 983), with a height of 35 meters. It is one of the three pagodas in Nantong, with five floors and four sides (the other two pagodas are Wenfeng Pagoda and Xiaoguang Pagoda in the city).

Behind the tower is the famous Langshan Temple. The Great Sage of Langshan was a monk Jia in the Tang Dynasty. He conquered the Yangtze River and Huaihe River in the south, cured diseases and treated water for the people, and was deeply loved. Tang Zhongzong respected him as a Buddhist, and he was a generation of eminent monks. In the temple, the Great Sage Bodhisattva is wearing a dragon robe, and the dharma is solemn; On both sides are his disciples Du Huian and Mu Cha. The temple is smoky all year round. At the southeast foot of the mountain, there is the tomb of King Robin of the Tang Dynasty. Luo is one of the "four outstanding figures in the early Tang Dynasty". Xu Jingye, the secretariat of Yangzhou, opposed Wu Zetian and went into exile in Nantong after his defeat. Alongside the tomb of Luo is the tomb of Liu Zhi, the subordinate of Wen Tianxiang, a national hero in the Southern Song Dynasty, and the editor of Wuyue in the Qing Dynasty. Slightly higher than the three tombs is the tomb of Kim Cangjiang, a patriotic poet in North Korea.

The wolf mountain is quiet in the south and quiet in the north, and the garden is built with the mountain as the screen in the north. There are many inscriptions on the steep cliff, which are called topic slopes. There is a winding stream under the cliff in the park, and there is a huge stone facing the water in the west. Wu Changshuo, a famous painter in modern times, is called "Dakaiyan". Up to now, there are still some buildings built by Zhang Chun, such as Zhao Hui Shen Xiu Mansion, Linxi Jingshe and Yumei Mansion. There are also Songdian Pavilion, Haiyue Rock, Gull Rock, Sunset Cave, Fairy Cave, Han Yuquan and other attractions.

Further north from the intersection of Huayuan Road and Chengshan is the "Wolf Mountain Catholic Church", one of the twelve places of pilgrimage for Catholicism in China. It was built by Pan Shiyi, the three great architects in Shanghai in the Republic of China, in the 25th year of the Republic of China. It is the first modern Gothic building in Nantong, and the inscription of "patriotic old man" and "grass saint" Yu Youren hangs in the church. He is the first Catholic bishop from China, a famous educator, philanthropist, diplomat, social activist and patriot.

Huangni Mountain and Ma 'anshan along the river have wide river surfaces with their peculiar landforms, towering rocks and axe-shaped cliffs, which makes them particularly popular with tourists. Longzhaoyan is located in the west of Huangni, surrounded by water on three sides and green hills. This is also a good place to enjoy the sunset glow. The Catholic Church began to preach in Nantong as early as the middle of the Qing Dynasty and flourished for a while, but there were no Catholics around Langshan. More than a hundred years later, it is said that a rich farmer named Huang Qishi, who lives at the northern foot of Langshan Mountain, found his father Xu (a Frenchman) in Nantong and told his wife that she was ill all the year round and could not be cured for a long time. She made a lot of efforts to worship the mountain and ask for immortality, but nothing came of it. In desperation, a distant relative took out an icon of the Virgin Mary and advised him to pray respectfully and accept the blessing. A few days later, Mrs. Huang saw a gorgeous woman appear on the top of Wolf Mountain in front of her house, holding rose petals scattered on the shore of the lake in front of her house, and then disappeared. She was really shocked. When she hid in the house, she found that the gorgeous woman was very similar to the icon of the Virgin Mary given by a distant religious relative. She exclaimed that the Virgin Mary appeared, and soon she recovered, and the whole family was grateful. This time, I have come to honor my promise to dedicate the holy lake and a large area of land around it to the church. At that time, the "Holy Church" in Wuli, southwest of Langshan Mountain was in danger of the collapse of the river bank. Father Xu immediately moved the church here and built it on the east side of the lake. 1925.

At that time, the new parish was under construction, and Father Zhu Kaimin, who was also the general priest of Shanghai and Shanghai, would take refuge in Rome and be consecrated by Pope 1 1, becoming the first of the first batch of six Chinese bishops in the history of Catholicism 1800 years. Therefore, the position of the church is not clear, and the new church is still regarded as the main protector of the new church. Coupled with the local Buddhist people's ignorance of the church and financial problems, the new church is small in scale and has its own style. 1927, Bishop Zhu returned to China to take up his post, and appointed Father Qiu as the deputy bishop of Nantong. Father Qiu witnessed the women who came to Langshan to make pilgrimages at four o'clock, but although the church gate stood, no one came to visit the church except for several ceremonies, and he couldn't help feeling sad. After Father Qiu went to Haimen Bishop's Mansion to tell Bishop Zhu about the origin and present situation of Wolf Mountain Hall, Bishop Zhu attached great importance to it, and asked the priest to dedicate a statue of the Virgin Mary in the hall, imploring the Virgin Mary to give the Chinese Catholic Church a well-developed educational administration, so that people outside the hall could know the real Emperor Tianmu, and women who worship the mountain in Qian Qian could know the real Emperor Tianmu, hoping to break superstition and call on loyal friends to worship the Virgin Mary in Wolf Mountain when they worship the sacraments in various churches. The congregation heard the bishop's call and went to see someone on the pilgrimage day. Among them, there are many people who seek medical treatment from Notre Dame de Langshan because of illness, so the number of believers who worship Notre Dame de Langshan is increasing day by day, hence the name "Notre Dame de Langshan". Bishop Zhu was deeply moved by the kindness of the Virgin of Wolf Mountain, hoping that friends from other places could share this kindness, so he initiated friends from his hometown of Shanghai to worship the Virgin of Wolf Mountain.

By 193 1, Xu Jiang, a poor Buddhist woman in Lang Mountain, was also cured by the revelation of the Virgin Mary. She made a big wish and borrowed 30 silver dollars to let the Shanghai pilgrimage group buy a statue of the Virgin Mary to strengthen the temple. Other parishioners heard of the rise of the wind and got help from workers of Shanghai Datong Company to buy from France. The Virgin Mary has a unique shape, which is the combination of the Virgin of Luther and the Virgin of Purity. It is said that the Madonna appeared when Huang Qi's wife Xu Jiang and others appeared. On the day of the arrival of the Virgin of Wolf Mountain, Bishop Zhu personally rushed to Wolf Mountain and held a grand opening ceremony. There are thousands of pilgrims in the square outside the hall and on the surrounding roads. Shanghai Steamship Company also launched a special flight, driving two ships carrying 1500 passengers to pick up and drop off residents of Shanghai parish. Mass in the church went on one after another. When Bishop Zhu attended the Bishop's gift mass in person, he said loudly, "This hall is too small to hold all the people. We hope that churches all over the country will cooperate with each other and build a lobby on this mountain as soon as possible so that pilgrims can have a place to live and worship with peace of mind. Since the Virgin Mary has attracted people to worship here, it will also touch people's hearts and do a good deed. I hope that the members present will pray seriously. " The status of Langshan as a pilgrimage site has been formed. 1933, when Bishop Zhu Kaimin led the second batch of bishops of nationality who were about to receive pastoral duties and the China pilgrimage group to Rome, he submitted a request to Pope Pisi for an Amnesty to make a pilgrimage to Langshan. After strict investigation and textual research by the Pontifical Department of the Holy See, the Pope gladly granted the imperial edict that "all pilgrims will go to Wolf Mountain on Notre Dame, Rose and Notre Dame Day" and made a decision. As a result, the Langshan Church officially became a place of pilgrimage to China within the church, which lasted less than ten years. An extinct Buddhist land can become a sacred pilgrimage site, thanks to the special care of the Virgin of Wolf Mountain, the wise planning of Bishop Zhu and the enthusiasm and piety of believers all over the country. Later, Bishop Zhu went to Lourde, the French holy land, and took out a white stone from the Holy Mountain of Our Lady in Lourde and shipped it back to China as the sacred stone for laying the foundation stone of the New Wolf Mountain Church in the future.

1936, the contribution to the construction of Xinlang Mountain Hall has reached 30,000 silver dollars. Although Bishop Zhu thinks that this fund is far from being able to build a luxurious lobby comparable to Xujiahui, Langshan Hall is small and crowded, and there is no shelter for worshippers in case of sudden weather changes. This situation has been going on for nearly ten years, and I really put up with it for a long time. However, the status of Langshan is not what it used to be. Bishop Zhu attached great importance to the design and construction of the new church and dared not start construction without permission. To this end, he thought of Pan Zhizi, master of arts and crafts in Tushanwan, Shanghai, and Mr. Pan Shiyi, the foreman of the French Concession in Shanghai. Pan Shiyi is one of the earliest talents studying abroad in China. He specializes in architecture at the University of Paris. Once known as the most outstanding oriental designer in French academic circles, he has been in contact with Zhujiajian Island. A few years ago, I just cooperated with Ma, the uncle of Bishop Zhu, a patriotic old man, and built the Saixixi Hall in Shanghai. Its unique style and rigorous design were later rated as the 22 best historical buildings in Shanghai. For a church with important religious significance like Langshan Church, it is most appropriate to ask him to design and supervise the building. To this end, Bishop Zhu Kaimin personally went to Shanghai to meet Mr. Pan Shiyi and discussed with him the construction of the new church in Langshan. After Pan Shiyi knew it, he made it clear that he would not take any money and was obliged to build a new church in the holy land himself. At the beginning of April that year, Pan Shiyi sent the design drawings of the new church to the Bishop's Office in Haimen, and explained all the design concepts to Bishop Zhu. At the end of the month, construction began 30 meters north of the old church in Langshan. At that time, considering the difficulty of construction and geological conditions, Pan Shiyi chose to build the lobby and the bell tower separately, building the lobby first and then the bell tower. When tamping the foundation of the bell tower and preparing the vertical piles, Pan Gong, Huang Dongsheng, the engineering team of Shanghai Huili Heji Construction Factory and the land foreman jumped into the bottom of the foot column and put the brand of the Virgin Mary and the brand of the Saint. Unexpectedly, the 3000-kg pillar hanging in the air was smashed into a blow. In desperation, they pushed this fateful pillar with their hands. The three of them were unharmed. The next day, when the second pillar was placed, another blacksmith was working below. The big pillar was broken and smashed, and the blacksmith escaped with great risk. At that time, dozens of people present saw the first and second things, both of which were urgent, but they were able to save the day and get out of danger, shouting loudly for the special help and protection of the Virgin of Wolf Mountain.

1937, one year later, the lobby was completely completed. Due to the background of China, Japan and War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, Bishop Zhu Kaimin, who has always had great national pride and patriotic feelings, chose May 9, the day when Yuan Shikai signed Article 21, as the opening ceremony, which has clear significance. The Bishop devoted his whole heart to the destiny and future of China, hoping that our people would not forget the national humiliation and revive the country. There were tens of thousands of pilgrims that day, including more than 4,000 members of the Shanghai Catholic Church (including Suzhou) led by the Catholic leader and Shanghai University industrialist Lu Bohong. Hotels in Nantong and incense shops in Langshan Town are crowded with pilgrims from all over the country. For Nantong, a remote county town with only tens of thousands of residents at that time, this is an unprecedented event. For the first time, Catholic pilgrims overtook worshippers and worshippers. The image of Wolf Mountain has also changed. It used to be an important Buddhist town in the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, and now it is a pilgrimage site for Catholics all over the country, with a great reputation. Since then, overseas believers have also come here, especially those from France, Italy, Belgium, Canada and the United States, many of whom are famous political and business people. It is worth mentioning that during the Anti-Japanese War, a foreign priest who served as the international liaison secretary of Bishop Zhu Kaimin made a video of his pilgrimage to Nantong into a national image film showing that China is a civilized country, peace-loving, religious freedom and social harmony, which was constantly broadcast in Times Square in new york, USA, in order to win the most needed international assistance for China's anti-Japanese war, and Nantong therefore entered the international stage.

On the opening day of the new Langshan Museum, in addition to the congratulatory messages from the central government, political, business, gentry and academic organizations at all levels in provinces and cities, as well as brother parishes all over the country, the descendants of the National Legislative Yuan (similar to the Speaker of the House of Commons) and Dr. Sun Yat-sen, the founding father, sent couplets to hang on both sides of the altar, and Ma, a famous educator, "patriotic old man" and Bishop Zhu's uncle, personally wrote them. It is not easy for Pan Shiyi to create such an artistic treasure in such a short time. Mr. Pan Shiyi has worked hard and achieved fruitful results.

Because the Catholic Church has strict requirements for places of pilgrimage, once it is dismantled or relocated, its full amnesty qualification will be automatically cancelled. Therefore, before the completion of the new church, Bishop Zhu once again applied to the Holy Ministry of Rome, and the Pope submitted a reply again, and awarded his "Pontifical Blessing" to the newly completed Langshan New Church. The newly-built Langshan Church was officially named "The Church of Our Lady of Lourde in Langshan", but it was the "Mother's Day" on February 8, 65438, which is why Xu Jiang dedicated the statue of Our Lady of Langshan above the altar. As a central church, Langshan Church also manages 7 meeting points of 25 churches in Zongduo District of Nantong: Lingbao Church in Yongxing Town, Shenshen Church in Qikuangtou, Petulu Church in zhangzhishan, Yana Church in Sanweitou, Infant Church in Li Kannonji, Yue Se Church in Tangjiazha and Doni Church in Li San. Since then, China has experienced the ravages of War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, and the patriotic feelings injected during the construction of the new Langshan Pavilion have also become the center of Jiangsu patriotic believers' prayers for the destiny of the country. In the past eight years, despite the threat of Japanese puppet troops, the number of pilgrims has not decreased every year. There is a famous patriotic prayer: "Holy Mary, all our bishops, priests and parishioners have flocked to your feet, asking you to bless us in our disaster. Mother in heaven, the children of your holy church are fighting fierce dark forces. Take care of us in heaven, and strengthen the faith of each of us, so that we can be patient, filial to God and faithful to the work of the Lord until our death. With your strong protection, we will surely defeat the fierce enemy. I sincerely wish you that when your virtue can calm the storm in the future, when the day of peace, light and happiness comes, we will go to Wolf Mountain with joy to thank you and celebrate your just victory. " On the day of the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, Bishop Zhu Kaimin led all the monks and nuns in Haimen parish to Wolf Mountain to hold a grand gift of five or six products for the bishop, thanking God for the victory of the Anti-Japanese War for eight years.

195 1 year, Haimen parish was established to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Bishop Zhu's consecration. The dioceses of Haimen, Shanghai, Nanjing and Suzhou held grand commemorative celebrations for Bishop Zhu Kaimin. On the first Sunday of May of that year, Haimen Parish also held a grand ceremony to dedicate Haimen Parish to the Virgin of Wolf Mountain. Pope pius xii also delivered his "Pope Farewell" in this famous pilgrimage site. Mr. Zhu Xisheng, a famous patriotic church musician and nephew of the bishop, wrote a beautiful melody and rhythm, and later sang "Song of the Virgin of Wolf Mountain" as the exclusive pilgrimage song of the church. So far, the Holy Church has granted amnesty to nearly 30 holy churches and 12 places of pilgrimage in China. Among them, there are as many churches in Haimen parish, and Langshan is one of the holy places in the Twelve Dynasties. (Due to historical and natural reasons, only Notre Dame de Langshan is still in normal use, leaving only the abandoned St. Delesa Church in Caojia Town, Qidong, which used to be the sixth cathedral in China, with exquisite architecture comparable to Sheshan Church. Bishop Zhu Kaimin also actively raised funds to set up many well-known schools (1 17 primary school, 27 junior high school, 7 senior high school and Nantong Agricultural College) and social welfare charities such as hospitals, clinics, nursing homes and orphanages, which greatly promoted the social civilization process in his area. As a new ethnic parish, it was originally barren and poor, but it is rare for the Far East to achieve such impressive achievements in just over 20 years. 1On March 22nd, 960, Bishop Zhu, who was 92 years old, was summoned by the Bishop's Office in Haimen, Inner Mongolia, and passed away. He was buried in the "Holy Tomb", one of the four cathedrals in Haimen parish (the Haimen Canal was demolished in the late 1960s). The President of the Jesuit Society and all the clergy held a grand memorial service for him in Hong Kong. Cardinal Paul Yuping, together with local bishops in Taiwan Province, held a three-day memorial mass at the Dover Hall in Taibei, and initiated an application for "memorial seal" for Bishop Zhu. The global church, which was moved by the news, praised his lifelong contributions and blessed his family, and once again awarded the "Pontifical Blessing" to Bishop Zhu's Notre Dame Church, which devoted his life.

During the Cultural Revolution, the Langshan Church was occupied by factories, and all churches except the main building were demolished. After the Cultural Revolution, the area of Langshan Church was greatly reduced, and the land was divided up by the surrounding units and residents. The precious resources of hard-won pilgrimage sites are gradually buried in people's memories and gradually become distant history. Recently, Nantong Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government began to pay attention to the cultural landscape there, and gradually restored its due lofty position in China Catholicism, ushered in a new spring. Langshan Scenic Area also holds regular chrysanthemum exhibitions every year. Chrysanthemum is the city flower of Nantong.

Yu mentioned Wolf Mountain in "Cultural Journey" published in 1992. "At the foot of Wolf Mountain" is what I felt after visiting Wolf Mountain. Because the name of Langshan Mountain is not as elegant as other places in the south of the Yangtze River, the author became interested in Langshan Mountain and came to visit it. Among them, Robin's Tomb, Zhang Jian and other historical and cultural celebrities in Nantong were mentioned.

20 1 1 Chen Dazhang, a master of traditional Chinese painting and president of the painting and calligraphy society of the old artists of the Ministry of Culture, visited Nantong. Accompanied by Ji Hansheng, the ambassador for promoting the peaceful reunification of China and the founder of the modern national treasure "Chinese Dragon Pot", Chen Dazhang specially painted a picture of the scenery of the Wolf Mountain after returning to Beijing, and mentioned in the picture that "the blue beads in the rivers and seas are shining and the waves are splashing."
