Where does it snow in Guangdong?

The only snowy city in Guangdong: Shaoguan.

There is a proverb circulating in Shaoguan: "The mountains are high, the forests are dense, the sky is the bluest, and the snow is soft and white, the snow is the most beautiful." Snowy softness, snowy whiteness, and snowy beauty are the special features that make Shaoguan different from the north.

1. Shaoguan is the only place in Guangdong where it snows.

2. Shaoguan is located on the Tropic of Cancer, so some areas in the northern part of Shaoguan will have snowy weather in winter.

3. Shaoguan starts from Jiezhi Village, Jiezhi Town, Nanxiong City in the east, and reaches Yagaoling Village, Sanxi Town, Lechang City in the west.

4. This straight line spans about 30 miles from east to west.

5. It reaches Sanjiewei Village, Baishi Town, Lechang City in the north, and Xialu Village, Matou Town, Xinfeng County, in the south, with a span of about 30 miles from north to south.

Introduction to Shaoguan:

Shaoguan, known as Shaozhou in ancient times, was named after Shaoshi Mountain. From 1943 to 1945, Shaoguan City was established under the provincial jurisdiction and was the temporary capital of Guangdong Province. In November 1949, Shaoguan City was established in Qujiang City. In 1975, Shaoguan City was upgraded to a prefecture-level city. The terrain is dominated by mountains and hills, with valleys and basins distributed among them, and plains and platforms accounting for about 20% of the area.

The terrain is high in the north and low in the south. Shikengkong, with an altitude of 1,902 meters, is the highest peak in Guangdong. The river mainly belongs to the Beijiang Basin of the Pearl River water system. The Beijiang River has Zhenjiang River as its main stream, and its main tributaries include Wujiang River, Mojiang River, Jinjiang River, Wengjiang River and Nanshui River.

The landform of Shaoguan is slightly "tall" compared to Guangdong. This is very special. Those of us who are used to living in the alluvial plains of the Pearl River Delta are surrounded by vast plains as far as the eye can see. When I hear that there are many mountains in Guangdong, I usually look confused. Little do I know that the good mountains and waters in Guangdong have already been packed up and taken to Shaoguan.
