Yunfu City is located in the central and western part of Guangdong Province, south of the middle reaches of the Xijiang River. It borders Zhaoqing City, Jiangmen City and Foshan City to the east, Yangjiang City and Maoming City to the south, Wuzhou, Guangxi to the west, Xijiang River to the north, and faces Fengkai County and Deqing County of Zhaoqing City across the river. The urban area is 60 kilometers away from Zhaoqing and more than 140 kilometers away from Guangzhou. It is 177 nautical miles away from Hong Kong by water and 60 nautical miles back to Wuzhou, Guangxi. The city is within the range of 22°22′~23°19′ north latitude and 111°03′~112°31′ east longitude. The total area is 7779.1 square kilometers. In 2008, the cultivated land area was 1.8336 million acres, of which the paddy field area was 1.3526 million acres. The terrain of Yunfu City is high in the southwest and low in the northeast. The main rivers in the city, Luoding Nanjiang River and Xinxing River, both flow in a roughly southwest-northeast direction. The west, southwest, southeast and neighboring districts and cities are all bounded by mountains, but the north is bounded by the Xijiang River. Hills are the main landform in Yunfu City, and they mostly develop along the edges of mountains. High hills range from 250 to 450 meters above sea level, and low hills range from 100 to 250 meters above sea level. The slopes of low hills are gentle, mostly 15 to 20 degrees.
