The difference between always, usually and never

always, usually, often, sometimes, hardly ever and never are the most common adverbs of frequency in English. Their positions in sentences are roughly the same: they are usually placed before action verbs, the linking verb be, and the auxiliary verb and after modal verbs. But the meanings and frequencies they express are different.

(4) The frequency of sometimes is about 20%, meaning "sometimes", indicating that actions occur occasionally. It can be placed at the beginning of a sentence for emphasis.
