Precautions for Dong acupuncture

1. Bloodletting is done on the affected side/affected area/holographic pain points and other locations.

2. Inject the acupuncture needle into the healthy side, and inject the traction needle into the affected side; the traction acupuncture needle is usually selected at the end of the limb on the affected side (upper limb: hand, lower limb: foot).

3. If there is no distinction between the left and right sides, such as regulating the five internal organs, diabetes, high blood pressure, etc., the left and right pricks should be pricked in turn, or both sides should be pricked at the same time every other day.

4. If the pain on both sides is severe, you can prick both sides at the same time, once a day.

5. If the disease has long-term symptoms, such as hemiplegia, etc., the main method of pricking the healthy side and the contralateral side can be used, such as pricking the healthy side for 3 days and the contralateral side for 1 day.

6. Daoyinxingqi Acupuncture: When inserting the acupuncture, intentionally move or massage the affected side. If combined with massage techniques, the effect will be more effective.

7. Leave the needle in for 50 minutes or more at a time, and a course of treatment lasts for 10 days. After a course of treatment, you need to rest for 2 to 3 days.

8. By default, bloodletting is performed on the first day of each course of treatment. If the patient has diabetes, pay attention to the healing of the wound after bloodletting. If the healing is slow, moxibustion can be used on the bleeding site.

9. Sunny days are the best because the Yang energy is sufficient. In rainy days, acupuncture can be performed without bleeding, and in extreme weather such as thunderstorms, acupuncture can be performed without bleeding.

10. Don’t pierce others during menstruation, unless you have painful menstruation and you can pierce it.

11. Try to lie on your back when injecting the needle, break the skin quickly, and insert the needle slowly, first inserting the ends of the limbs, and then inserting upwards.

12. The needle should be inserted to avoid blood vessels. If it occasionally sticks into a pore (obvious stinging pain), the needle needs to be removed and reinserted; after breaking the skin, stay for 10 seconds before inserting deeper. The nerve will automatically avoid the needle tip.

13. The needle moves straight in and out without lifting or twisting.

14. Do not eat during the acupuncture period, but drink appropriate water. You can also drink some warm water after the acupuncture is removed. Try not to touch cold water within two hours after removing the needle.

15. Pay attention to the room temperature during acupuncture to ensure the natural temperature and avoid catching cold. If the injection is given after a meal, at least half an hour should be allowed.

16. Keep the patient in a calm mood during the acupuncture process and avoid acupuncture in an intense emotional state.
