The historical development of Xiangtang West Station
At the beginning of the founding of New China in 1950, the original Xiangtang Station was renamed Xiangtang West Station. At that time, the area around Xiangtang West Station was overgrown with weeds, and there were graves everywhere. The weeds were as tall as a person. The surrounding area is eerie at night, with jackals, black bears, and venomous snakes appearing at any time. The original switch house was a wooden structure and could be moved at any time when needed. It was called a movable station. In winter, the switch room and driving room are ventilated on all sides, and the staff inside are freezing to the bone and shivering in the cold wind. In summer, the heat is overwhelming and mosquitoes bite. The only tool people use is a banana fan. At night, people You have to concentrate on your work, and you have to be distracted to drive away mosquitoes. You are exhausted after a night shift. It is rainy in spring. It is raining heavily outside, but it is raining lightly inside. The employees on duty can use the basin to catch a basin of water. At that time, Work and life are really in a gloomy and terrifying environment where tigers roar and apes roar.
After the founding of New China, Xiangtang Station underwent three complete reconstruction and expansion projects in 1962, 1966 and 1980. 22 new arrival and departure lines to the northwest and 5 new lines to the west were added. Arrival and departure lines, four cargo lines, both ends are connected to the Xiangtang Locomotive Depot. Xiangtang Station has since been promoted to a first-class section marshalling station. At this time, Xiangtang Station has three shunting locomotives for demarshalling, pick-up and delivery operations. It can demarshal more than 30 freight trains and more than 1,000 vehicles every day, and receive and dispatch nearly a hundred passenger and freight trains. These trains can all be dispatched at Xiangtang Station. The station carries out locomotive replacement work, line switching operations and vehicle technical inspection operations.
With the further deepening and development of reform and opening up, the transportation capacity and volume of the Zhejiang-Jiangxi Line have continued to increase, and Xiangtang Station is far from meeting the needs of railway modernization. August 28, 1992 , the 5 arrival and departure lines of the newly built II yard through yard at Xiangtang Station, the 6 newly built shunting lines of the upstream shunting yard and the 6 arrival and departure lines of Xiangtang Station were officially put into use during this period. Xiangtang Station was officially opened in 1980 After 12 years of construction from 1992 to 1992, it became a veritable first-class section marshalling station of Nanchang Railway Bureau.
Since March 17, 1992, with the approval of the State Council, Xiangtang Station has officially started the construction of the new Beijing-Kowloon Railway. At 10:28 on April 1, 1996, Xiangtang Station opened the Beijing-Kowloon Railway for the first time. The 1807 cargo train on the South Line arrived at Longchuan Station, which marked the official completion of the main line of the Beijing-Kowloon Railway. From then on, Xiangtang Station began to process the freight trains and traffic flow diverted from the two main lines of Beijing-Kowloon and Zhejiang-Jiangxi. It relieves the busy passenger and freight train transportation pressure on other main railway lines such as the Beijing-Guangzhou Line and the Beijing-Shanghai Line. At the same time, the opening of the Beijing-Kowloon Line provides convenient conditions for the construction and development of the old areas in southern Gansu, Jiangxi Province.
