The Danxia landform in Zhangye is actually a colorful hill. A friend who has been there said

Many friends have traveled to Zhangye. If you want to talk about feelings, it's called a cool word.

To explain Zhangye, we must clarify the concept of the Hexi Corridor.

The Hexi Corridor is a strip-shaped accumulation plain about 1,000 kilometers long and several kilometers wide to nearly 200 kilometers wide. It is located at the northern foot of the Qilian Mountains, the southern foot of the Heli Mountain, west of the Wushaoling Mountains, and east of the junction of Gansu and Xinjiang. Because it is located to the west of the Yellow River and sandwiched between two mountains, it is called the Hexi Corridor and runs east-west, north-south.

In ancient times, the Hexi Corridor was the main route from China to the Western Regions, the main route and first stop for the eastward spread of Buddhism, and the throat of the Silk Road heading westward.

It is an important military town in the northwest and the best place for the Central Plains nobles to escape the flames of war. During the Western Han Dynasty, the imperial court established four counties in the Hexi Corridor, which were historically known as the Four Counties in Hexi.

Zhangye, known as Ganzhou in ancient times, is now a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Gansu Province, located in the middle of the Hexi Corridor. Because it is located in the middle of the Hexi Corridor, Zhangye has been an important commercial port and throat of the Silk Road since ancient times. Its name comes from Zhang Guo, who extended his arm into the Western Regions.

Zhangye has half a city of reeds and half a city of pagodas. Since ancient times, it has been associated with Jiangnan Fortress and Golden Zhangye.

Zhangye is rich in tourism resources, with 19 scenic spots older than 4 years and 35 A-level scenic spots. It has many scenic spots such as national nature reserves, national historical and cultural cities, and China's outstanding tourist cities. It has profound cultural heritage and rich cultural landscape.

The Zhangye Heihe River is the largest inland river in Hexi and the second largest inland river in China.

Zhangye has China’s famous Qilian Mountain Grassland, Heihe Wetland and Pingshan Lake Grand Canyon. Shandan Army Racecourse is the largest racecourse in China and has a prominent reputation. Zhangye's indoor clay sculptures of the Reclining Buddha (Zhangye Giant Buddha) and the Seated Buddha (Shandan Giant Buddha) are the tallest in China. The horseshoe-shaped grottoes are from the same era as the Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang.

In recent years, Zhangye’s Danxia landform has made Zhangye famous both at home and abroad, and its weather is very hot.

Zhangye Danxia Landform is a complex area in China with unique Danxia landform and colorful hills. It is actually different from the Danxia landform in southern China.
